karma

edited 10-5-25

The sun shone through the trees as I sprinted through the densely packed forest, shit I wasted way too much time. At least the guard stations are closer than the house. I'll just stop by one of them to get ready.  I ran straight to the first gate into my territory, pawing at the guard's door when I got there until the guard, Mayleen, opened the door for me.

"Oh! Young sir, since you're here, I'm guessing little Miss Molly is coming to give you a ride?" Mayleen asked with a sly smirk,

I nodded my head and motioned for her to leave so I could shift and get dressed.

I left the station and walked down towards the gate, where I could see Molly, my best human friend, waiting in her silver convertible. "Molly!" I yelled, running over to her car, "Get in, fucker, you were supposed to be here 30 minutes ago," she shouted happily, "aye-aye," I chuckled happily, getting into her car.

"Oh, right, we're also giving Quin a ride, so move your fat ass over so he can fit," Molly said. I scoffed and moved over once we neared his house. “You could've picked him up first while you waited.” “Yeah, yeah, but I never know with you when it comes to time, you could've been on time or late.”

Quin's arrival interrupted the pointless argument between us

"Ok, Karma, I got you a tropical smoothie with strawberries since you're lame and despise coffee unless it contains lethal doses of sugar, and Molly, I got you a double mocha frappuccino with extra whip," Quin said as he got into the car.

I snatched mine out of his hand and took a sip, "Ughhh, marry me Quin.”

I moaned out as he just chuckled at me, “No thanks, man, you're not my type.”

"Quin, you are a god!" Molly said, taking her drink from my future Beta.

"Hey, karm? I've meant to ask for a while, but why does no one at school talk to you?" Molly asked as we were stopped at a red light

"Honestly? There's not really a good reason. I mean, the fewer people know about me, the more I blend in, so it's not a bad thing." I replied casually.

"Huh, ok then, I guess that makes sense," Molly replied after a moment

I stood quietly looking at my locker, watching as my friends went to their separate groups, Quin with the rest of my pack and Molly with her friends. While we were at school, we didn't know each other. It made things easier.

"Well, well, would you look at what we have here, Dante."

I heard someone from behind me say

"Aww, it's the stray mutt who bumped into me yesterday." That's why they cornered me yesterday? Because I bumped into this bitch? How petty. Bee, I think that was her name at least, stood behind me with Dante and Barry, making me hold back a growl,

"Oh? It looks like you're right, Bee," Dante said with a menacing smirk

Shit, this isn't good. I glanced towards my future pack to see them glaring at Dante and his gang. They must have heard what happened yesterday.

I shook my head as subtly as I could, hoping the humans wouldn't notice, but I guess im not that lucky. “The hell are you shaking your head for fucker?” “Nothing,” I grumbled as quietly as I could. If I made myself small, I wouldn't be as much of a target after all

"What's the matter, can't speak?" one taunted with a smirk. There was the familiar feeling of my pack's restlessness; they were itching for a fight as I was insulted in front of them.

I glanced over to them and glared. They huffed and turned away. I suddenly felt someone grab the front of my shirt. I braced myself, waiting for the punch to come, but before it did, the bell rang.

Thank god. “Tsk, I guess we'll finish this later.” they walked away and left me alone with my thoughts.

The rest of the day went by in a blur. I distanced myself even more than usual from Anthony and the rest of my people, so it was less likely they'd be caught up in whatever petty grudge those people wanted from me.

Sitting in my last class of the day was torture when all I wanted was to get home and away from this god forsaken place, and I was close to getting my wish when the counselor called me to his office. As I made my way down to meet him, no matter how hard I thought about it, I couldn't think of a reason I would have been called.

I knocked on his door

"Come In!" I heard my counselor yell

I opened the door and went into the small room

"A-ah, Mr. Alesio," my counselor stuttered out. I raised my brow at him. Did he not call me in?

"I just didn't expect you so soon," the man said with a nervous smile

"I didn't expect myself here at all, so mind explaining?" I cut straight to the chase, no small talk needed

"R-right, well, there's someone else coming, so do you mind waiting until he gets here, sir?" he said

He was nervous because he knew my status, and he was naturally nervous around Alphas. After all, he appears to be an omega. I sighed loudly

"Fine, and drop the formalities, we aren't on the pack lands right now, so im just a normal student to you," I said, exasperated.

"Ah, of course, whatever you want! You can sit down if you like," he said with a small smile

"Yeah, sure," I said as I sat down.

It took 15 minutes for the other person to enter the room, which means 15 long minutes alone with the bald man across from me. Around the 10-minute mark, I pulled out my phone and started messing with it. Five minutes later, when the door finally opened, I looked up to see who we were waiting for and realized it was the one and only, Dante Marley.

Karma had always tried to stay under the radar at school; he kept good grades, he didn't hang out with anyone, and he never stood out. until one day, he was targeted for no apparent reason by a group of people he had never met.

Dante, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. He stood out at school for better or for worse; he had below-average grades, a large group of friends, and it seemed that everything he could ever wish for was at his fingertips.

One chance meeting (and one wimpy councilor) brought these two men together, flinging them into a life they never expected.
