Sage bounced in her seat as the car worked its way along the winding country road. The rolling fields had a rather dreary look to them, seeming almost colorless. Soon the car slowed and turned onto a long driveway. Sage looked out with curiosity at the elegant wood fences and an old New England style wood barn.
“Wow, we could have a whole stable of horses out here.” Sage murmured.
Passing the barn, the car pulled up in from of an elegant, large colonial style house.
“This is it.” Sage’s mother turned off the car.
Sage got out of the car and brushed a long strand of brown hair out of her face. She helped her mother grab their bags out of the car and then they walked towards the house together.
Sage’s mother pulled a key out of her purse and unlocked the door, leading the way inside.
“Sage, you can have the larger upstairs room. I’m taking the master bedroom. The movers will be here at the end of the week with the rest of our things so we’ll have to make due with what we have till then. You have a month till school starts so explore and make friends. Just stay out of trouble.” She informed her daughter.
