The year is 2367. America still stands in the world as the innovative, rebellious nation, and that has been proven countless times by the inventions that Americans have presented over the years. The biggest thing to emerge from the centuries has been a corporation called AutoTronic. The vast industry Autotronic has built is a testament to modern innovation. It has paved the way for the rest of America to follow suit and in the middle of this technological revolution it is hard to remember that this world was home to some fantastical creatures once. It’s a company known worldwide, and their bright and glorious motto is, “Bringing the World into Tomorrow”. Apart from the smart objects they sell to people, their biggest contributions to society are known and praised around the globe.
The largest, vehicle wise, has been their invention of hover vehicles. Nothing like flying cars, but there’s about 2-3 feet of distance between the vehicles and the ground. The company calls them VELH’s, or, Vehicles of Extreme Lateral Hoverance. AutoTronic doesn’t really make these available to the public to purchase, but they use them in public settings. They use VELH’s as public transport and as patrol vehicles for law enforcement. It’s actually quite effective. VELH’s don’t have to adhere to regular streets and their technology increases their speed to twice that of a car’s. AutoTronic made them by creating an electromagnetic system with a force strong enough to react to the planets metallic core. Overall, they’ve been a beneficial help to society.
AutoTronics other great innovation, was that of surgically implanted USB ports, free for anyone in the world. They called it their big project to really bring the world into the future. The port is implanted when a child is born, and the parents can choose where it is, in order to reserve a minute aspect of individuality. The port basically allows humans to be able to download information and abilities directly into their bodies. It is all relatively limited of course, a plugin can't make a human fly. Most people however use the plugin system as a way to connect their entire being to the internet. In a way, it's augmented reality, but your consciousness is really there and you can interact with anything. However, as advanced and helpful as this technology is, some people still chose to reject the procedure for their children for fear of the risks the advancement brought.
These people became a group of social outcasts known as Divisionaries, due to the fact that they divided themselves from the world. Back when AutoTronic first released the USB Ports in the late 2100's, several families refused the implantation for their children, and they raised them without that connection. As the children grew, their lack of technology distanced them from other children and the people around them. Feeling they didn't belong with the rest of the world, they decided to move away from the larger cities, in remote villages of other people who had been raised without the Ports.
And this was the way of life in this period. People were happy with the way things were, accepting the bountiful inventions that came forth from AutoTronic, behaving as if people without Ports were nonexistent, and living in ignorant bliss. This was how everyone lived. This was how Kyle Price lived.
