I continued to stare before we walked around the corner of the hallway. I noticed few tears falling down Jessie’s face and finally began to feel sick myself. “Is he going to kill her?” I thought to myself as we walked slowly down the hall.
The doctor took a little longer working on Prince Johnathan and set them on their way back to their kingdom. When he got to me, he wrapped up a few of my scraps and set me with Jessie back to my room for some rest. I no long was in a crib and got to sleep in a huge master bed with curtains for privacy around it. The bed was taller than I was and was usually helped up on it. I had a fear that I would have to get out of bed to go to the bathroom and not be able to get back up. That would mean though, I was left completely alone, which never happened. I always had two guards outside my door and usually had a maid sleep in my room with me in the rocking chair. Jessie sat me on my bed and smiled.
“You were so brave today, to help Prince Johnathan. That man was very big compared to you and you didn’t hesitate, did you?” Jessie asked. I shook my head and got under the covers as she tucked me in.
“Where Christian?” I asked as I put my head on the pillow.
“Don’t worry about her. She will no longer be working as your hand maid though. I will now be by your side when you travel.” She sat on the bed and noticed a small book on the small night stand near my bed., “Is this what she was reading for you? Seems a little advanced to read to a child.” She picked up the book, Dragon Slayer, “I think this book is actually very violent.” She opened it and seemed to read to herself a few paragraphs. She then looked to get into the book and continued to read it to herself. I sat up and sighed as I touched her arm. She looked up and laughed, “Sorry, this book actually isn’t half bad.” She began to read a chapter to me, and I sat back down. I listened for a while till I felt my eyes become heavy. I yawned and Finally fell asleep as Jessie seemed to continue reading.
