I woke up and my legs felt heavier then usual. I sat up and noticed Jessie had fallen asleep last night on my bed. Some of her body though had covered my legs. I tried to shove her off and noticed how heavy she was. I poked her cheek a few times till she sat up quickly, startling me.
“Prince! Forgive me! I will go get your breakfast now. Please, try not to move around too much. The doctor said to rest.” I watched as she fixed her hair quickly and ran out of the room. I sighed and sat fully up. I stretched my arms up in the air and glanced out the windows. I noticed she had also forgotten to close the curtains last night before bed.
“She seems nice, but I heard about what happened yesterday. Are you okay?” I looked over to see Elizabeth and nodded, “Good. I noticed him and was worried that he would try and take you. I think you were supposed to be the one he was after. That other little boy though was mistaken as you. Not many know what you look like.”
“I saw you yesterday in the garden, but you seemed blurry.” I replied.
“Oh.” She sat down on the bed and I noticed it didn’t dent in though when she did. She brushed some of my brown hair, “Your eye must have been trying to readjust. It seems only your green can see me. Very odd I have to say, but life is never simple. I mean look at you. You are only two, yet you can have an adult conversation with ease with myself.” She opened her hand and dropped the eye patch on the bed, “You will still be needing this though. You know how much your Father hates that eye.” I grabbed the eye patch, “Turn around, so I can help you tie it.”
“Won’t I not be able to see you though when I do?”
She smiled and touched my cheek, “For right now, I need you to wear it. Don’t take it off for the next week or so.”
“But what if I need to talk to you?” I asked as I looked down at the patch.
“Then just say my name and wait a few seconds. Then speak what you want to say. Know that I will be listening.” She grabbed my hand and brought it up towards my eyes, “This is for the best.” I put the patch up to my eye and Elizabeth started to go blurry as she quickly helped tie the patch to my eye. When I felt it tighten, she was completely gone?
I touched the eye patch wanted to remove it. I heard a knock on the door and Jessie came hurrying inside. “We have eggs and some yummy bacon for you, Prince.”
“Jessie, you have to do what I tell you correct?” I uncovered myself fully and looked at her in the eyes.
“I do what I can for you, Prince. What is it you need?” She nervously asked as she set the tray in front of me.
