The Student Council Committee was discussing the plans for the Junior Gala. They were having a meeting in the auditorium, since the attack it was the only place that could work. It was Monday afternoon, and classes were in the process of being remodeled. They were wearing their school uniforms; their Navy Blue jumpsuits needed mending. CJ had been having dreams about her mother, Patrice for a long time; but now it was starting to affect her school life. After the devastating news of her illness, Will drove her home. No one was home, and Peter wasn't answering any chime. It wasn't easy news to hear, she was positive that she even saw a tear from Sebastian's eyes.
She chuckled. "At least its only one hand." She said to herself
Krystal's voice pulled her out of her reverie, she taps her finger on the microphone.
"Excuse you! If you have something to add...now would be the time, CJ."
Some of the members chuckled, CJ looked away in embarrassment.
Lyndie approached the microphone next. "Um, that's all for today. Rest up, because we got a lot of work ahead of us."
Everyone rose and began to disperse in different directions. She looked around at her peers, they weren't adjusting to their new injuries either. It couldn't have been easy to accessorize braces, crutches, casts, and bandages. She looked back at Krystal, she was jumping happily with her besties. Margo was slightly hunched and Lyndie was there for shoulder support.
CJ remembered the light coming from her leg, not to mention the healing part. The attack on the school was hard to forget, and she was secretly haunted by it. She remembered the terror in everyone's face. She remembered the screams of pain, and the humidity from the flames and the Emergency Indoor Sprinkler System. The truth about the Vice Principal was shocking, but nothing compared to Byron. His eyes looked driven, and he was bloodthirsty for her life.
Romy limped over to her, CJ hated seeing her so injured. "Hey. You seem...out of it today."
She sighs.
"Yeah, a lot on my mind lately." She looked over at the S3s. "I miss anything important?" She was referring to the meeting.
Romy patted the girl's shoulder slowly.
"What's that for?"
She giggled. "I call it The Pity Pat."
CJ chuckled and shrugged her off playfully. The two friends walked together to the door. Zane was right behind them.
In the hallway, Romy set her crutches down and leaned up against a door frame. Zane placed his arm around her neck jokingly. "Hellooo, ladies." He said with a wink
"Oh. Hey, Zane."
"So, the S3s did forget to mention one more thing."
"What?" CJ inquired
"Dates, of course! I got a Two for One Deal. Two girls, one guy--you ladies tempted?"
"Hardly." Romy said and moved his arm
"How 'bout you, CJ?" He inquired
"Uh, I'm not goin'. Sorry."
A brown 2014 Ford Transit Connect Wagon pulled onto the property. Romy noticed it first, she waved to the driver. "There's my mom, I gotta go."
She waved at CJ and then looked at Zane. "Need a ride?" She asked him
"Sure." He replied
CJ watched as the two friends head carefully toward the vehicle. She watched them drive away.
She was in the hallway when she heard a chime from her HC Reciever. "Incoming Message" the robotic voice said: HEY, IT'S ME. I'M SORRY ABOUT--YOU KNOW. CAN WE TALK? PLEASE? I-I REALLY NEED TO SEE YOU. It made her heart lurch to hear his voice.
