The fire crackled softly, light flickering against the ground sending shadows dancing against the dimly lit forest around them. Eli sighed softly as he cuddled into Liam. The large wolf gave off plenty of heat on the cool autumn night.
They had spent the past few days together, avoiding their own people with Liam's coming of age so close. Eli had quickly become numb to Liam killing animals of prey and cooking them.
Liam gently squeezed Eli's shoulder, tilting his head and smiling "I'm going to go hunt down some food okay? I'll find something for you as well..."
When Eli nodded he stood and draped a fur quilt-like blanket over his shoulders before heading off into the forest for food... leaving Eli completely alone.
The area was silent other than the crackling fire and sounds of the bugs around him.
He was completely alone...
Or so he thought...
Eli felt a chill run down his spine and a single thought entered his mind...
"Someone is watching me..."
His eyes scanned the trees, seemingly finding nothing until his eyes were met with a piercing blue pair staring directly at him through the shadows of the treeline.
They were glossy and unblinking... and light reflected off of wet and slimy teeth... sharp and in the shape of a sick grin.
Eli's heart dropped as he realized what was staring at him and almost immediately a chillingly smooth voice whispered...
"Finally the deer is left alone... what now Eli... who will protect your delectable body now~?"
