The drive to the spaceprogram's lab wasn't that long, it was mostly straight roads with few trafficlights. But the drive seemed to have taken ages, since no one talked. Teru was still recovering from all the sudden information he received today, his head was still dizzy too. His dad however, he had just been smiling all the way. Like he was proud of what was awaiting Teru. As they arrived at the lab, multiple doctors were waiting for him; two women and three men. One of the women seems to be obsessed with him, she has been ogling at him the whole time. "Welcome to the lab, Teru. My name is Thomas, it's an honor to meet you." The male doctor on the right said with a warm welcoming smile. Thomas, one of the three doctors, seems to be a man in his late thirties. His smile was indeed welcoming, but something seems fishy. All of them seem fishy. "Today my colleagues will assist me with your physical exam for the S.S.O." Teru nodded and gave them all a smile, but he remained alert. "If you would like to follow us now, please?" Thomas pointed towards the hallway behind him, the sign said: Lab, A331
The hallway was rather empty, there was no one around. There were no security cameras to be found either. But Teru's look was focussed on al the tech around him. Teru has always been a tech-nerd, if there was a new tech item on the market he would have known about it weeks before. But this tech, he had never seen it before. When they reached a hallway with blinded curtains Teru asked: "What is going on in here?" Thomas looked his way and smiled, "you don't need to know kiddo." But Teru insisted and eventually the doctor looked at his father, and he nodded. With a quick gesture from Thomas the curtains flew aside and there were beds to be seen. Some empty, and some occupied. On one bed Teru saw a little girl, build quite athletic. He waved, but she didn't reply. "These windows are one-way mirrors." Thomas noted. "Is she one of the S.S.O?" Teru asked. Thomas didn't answer and insisted they moved on to the lab. As they reached the actual lab Teru got a sudden urge of caution. Thomas, whom seemed to have taken notice of Teru's cautious behavior, patted him on the shoulder. Like a friend would do. "Teru, I would like to begin our tests now."
The tests took quite some time, but Teru scored a perfect ten out of ten. Like expected from him. The woman who had been ogling at him the whole time was apperantly the doctor who'd check his private parts. Teru had asked for a different doctor instead, but was told the woman is the best at her expertise. He was told to stay in the waiting room for a while, which he didn't enjoy. He had gotten used to his fathers grin, but his dad wasn't smiling anymore. He looked rather... sad. "Teru" his father turned to him, "I want you to know I love you." His father blinked away a tear and moved closer to Teru, with wide arms. He was gesturing for a hug, how typical. Teru felt bad if he didn't hug his own dad, he is sad, he needs comforting. Teru walked to his father and hugged him. A sudden pinch came from Teru's neck, a mosquito? Teru turned his head to his neck and saw a syringe. He pushed his father away from him and made him fall onto the ground. "Dad! What the f-" His father was becoming hazy, was he seeing things? No, his father had drugged him. "I'm sorry son..." He looked at the hazy figure he assumed to be his dad's and wanted to jump at him. But before he could make a move, everything went dark.
"Hey? Are you awake?" Teru could hear a distant voice in this dark room. "Teru, can you hear me? Hey! Open your eyes!" A female voice? And one he doesn't recognize. "Yes, I can hear you" he replied. What does she mean open my eyes? I'm in this dark room, already awake. "Teru damn it, I said open your eyes. It's not nice to make a lady wait." Could it be... Slowly Teru opened his eyes and saw this female figure stand next to him, watching him. It took a few blinks before his eyes focussed, suddenly his eyes widened. He jumped from his bed, combat ready. "Where the hell is he?!" He yelled. "The girl just stood there, taking him in. "Who do you mean?" She asked him with a small laugh. "My fucking dad! He drugged me and... and..." Teru's memories were coming back, but some seemed missing. "And that's all you remember before everything went black?" She said without a stutter. Teru turned his head towards her and looked at her suprisingly. How did she know? Was she there? No, she was in- "Wait it's you!" Teru realized. "The girl in that room, with the blinded curtains." The girl looked at him confusedly. "The fuck do you mean?" "I saw you behind those one-way mirrors, you were laying in a bed" Before Teru could react the girl already had him pinned down against the wall. "You, what do you know about me!" Teru couldn't breath, his back had been hit hard against the concrete wall. He was struggling to breath. The girl took notice of this and quickly released him from her grip. "As I thought, you don't know shit." She walked towards a chair at the end of the room. "A one-way mirror you say?" Teru nodded, "I think they've been observing you through there." She grabbed the chair tightly, and started walking his way. "I'd move if I were you." Teru knew what she was about to do and jumped out of harms way. A loud bang could be heard and glass shattered. "I didn't sign up for this shit anyways, I'm leaving." But before she could make a single move two armed men entered the room. "STOP RIGHT THERE!" the man on the right shouted. "IF YOU MAKE A SINGLE STEP TOWARDS THAT WINDOW WE WILL BE ORDERED TO KILL YOU." The girl laughed, "yeah right, like those are actual bullets." She took a step. Without hesitation the men began shooting the girl, splattering blood everywhere. The firing quickly ended, leaving the girl full of holes. A large puddle of red liquid had formed around her. Teru looked at the body with wide eyes, wanting to scream, to vomit. He didn't even get her name, and now she's dead. He didn't even get to know about her, not a single detail. The armed men started walking towards Teru. So why is he feeling hatred, rage? When they finally reached him Teru lost his control, he was going to avenge that girl. The first man acted rather quickly and took the back of the gun and swung it at him. Teru lunged to the right grabbing the man's knife from his pocket. Quickly the other man reached for his gun, but Teru had already reached him. Blood spilled out of his throat as Teru sliced it open like butter, a clean striaght cut. The man dropped to the ground, dead. The other armed man just stood there, watching him, terror in his eyes. Teru grabbed the rifle from the floor and emptied the magazine on the man. The gun's clicking, the magazine's empty. Teru just watched the two men, swimming in their own puddle of blood. He felt satisfied, he avenged her. Teru dropped to his knees, crying. But why? He isn't like this! Why did he want to avenge a dead girl he didn't even know? Clapping sounds awoke Teru from his train of thoughts and made him turn his head towards the sound. Thomas was standing there, clapping. "You completed the test! Well done! It looks like the program we installed to your brain is functioning just perfectly."
