My head is hurting. Blinking, I open my eyes and find myself in an unknown place again. I sat up hastily. I'm not back in this hellhouse again ?! The room I was in was not like the rooms there. Relieved, I breathe and sit down again. Where am I if I was not caught? I rubbed my eyes with my left hand and looked at the room again. The floor was made of wooden floorboards and the walls adorned a monochrome white wallpaper. It also smelled quite woody in general. This smell gave me a warm feeling of security and yet I did not feel safe. I myself sat with my back against one of the four walls, and beside me was a rather large chest of drawers with four drawers. Otherwise, there was only one big bed and another smaller dresser. If I wanted to know where I am I need to get a better overview. I know for a fact that I did not make it into any of the houses before I collapsed. I do not know how much time has passed since then. I only knew that it had to be night, because the moonlight was the only source of light in the room. Carefully, I straightened up and looked out the window. You could see your forest. Was it the one I ran through? It was too foggy outside to judge this, so I decided to inspect the dresser next to me. In the top drawer was underwear, male to be exact. In the other three drawers I continued to find only clothes such as shirts, sweaters, shirts and socks. The person who lives here must have brought me here. I'm hardly sleep-changed in my condition.
That's right! My arms! The magic…
I examined my arms. They were connected and do not seem to bleed anymore, but the bandage was soaked in my blood and stuck to my forearms. As for the clothes, I still had the same look as the night I fled. I was still dirty from the earth, the blood and haze and the leaves and branches. Now I find myself trembling as I finally realized how cold I was. No wonder if I had slept on the ground in this condition. I paced thoughtfully up and down the room.
Am I safe here? Can I dare to leave this room and continue to investigate the situation?
Slowly and carefully, I opened the door and stepped into the hallway. It was quiet and the light was out too. Was nobody there? That would at least give me enough time to look around in peace. Despite everything, I moved calmly and deliberately, after all, I have been training this all my life. Diagonally opposite to the bedroom, where I stayed until just then, it went into another room, however, I was not a door in the passage, but only a frame. I looked down the hall. On my left this went on, but I could see no doors without light. To my right were two more doors, both locked.
First, the room opposite.
I put my head first and looked around. No soul to see. Well. Here it was even darker than in the room before, because the moon could not illuminate this room. My eyes got used to it quite fast though. Now I could see couch, TV, dressers, table, chairs and kitchen. Everything in one room. Again, it smelled woody with a hint of tobacco and fat. A smoker? I went to the couch and found an ashtray on the small table in front of it. I looked past the TV and saw that there was another room behind it. However, he had a locked door, so I decided to investigate it later. Since the living area looked normal and therefore uninteresting for me, I turn into the kitchen. I still had to clarify something to know how I can proceed now. I opened the door in the drawers looking for a knife or anything that could hurt me.
After the third drawer, I finally found a large kitchen knife. I took it in my left hand and looked at it. It was tapering towards the top and was visibly sharpened. It should work. So I should be able to test whether the magic has worked. I doubted it. If it worked ... why are my arm wounds no longer bleeding? Besides, they did not hurt at all. Only the adhesive bandage itched on my skin. Such a deep wound can not possibly have healed so quickly when I'm finally a human being. People should not have such a strong regenerative power. That would mean that I'm still a vampire! I do not want! My hands started to shake. This can not be true. I have to get security.
I tightened my grip on the knife and took out my right arm. The cut must be deep enough for me to really be sure. If he closed himself right back I was still a vampire. An immortal monster. My breathing speeded and my pulse went up. Pictures of the last years shot through my head. My body started to sweat. I got a slight panic.
No! No! No! Everything will be fine. I'll cut myself and it will not heal! Everything will be fine!
I wiped my hair from my forehead and then positioned my arm again to cut in front of me. I put the blade on the top of the forearm this time. If I really became human, I did not want to go through the cut and if I was still a vampire I would not kill a cut in the blood vessels. I took a deep breath in and out to calm myself. I had to concentrate now.
I just wanted to put pressure on the knife and my arm, because the knife is knocked out of my hand and missed me with the smooth palm of your hand in the face. You could hear a loud gossip, my cheek was burning and the knife a few inches away from me with a clink on the hard wooden floor.
