we are told that we have a choice

that we can be anything we want,

that we can have a choice on

what we can like and do,

but they’re all fucking lies,

it’s all determined when

you are born

whether it be the color of your skin,

the parents you were raised by,

your physical and mental state,

your location you live in,

and your sexuality

whether, you be trans, gay, bi, or ace,

and especially within religion

it’s all there, 

forced upon you by society

forced upon those who

walk a “holy” path

and by those who continue

to live in the past

and hate you for the

skin you were born with

or the religion

you partake in 

sure it’s gotten better in this

modern time,

but there are still people

who yell that you will go to hell

just because

you can’t help

but love someone

of the same sex as you,

or you are trapped in a body

which isn’t who you truly are,

or part of the “wrong” religion,

all we can do is

try to prove them wrong,

we can try to create a world for all

of us which society pushes down,

our families who abuse us,

and our friends who laugh at us

not because you cracked a couple

of good jokes,

your choice of society,

of family,

of friends,

of your career,

are not totally our choices either,

but let’s make the most

of our limited choices

all in hopes for a better

world
