Chill grinned widely, “Oh, Thanks for the compliment. We like our hair too. You know what? I like you! Tell me, if I answer in Klingon, would you know what I’m saying?”
The man tilted his head, a smile on his face, “I know not the tongue of which yon speaketh. Dost thou understandeth, me?”
Yeah, I had no clue. I knew it was some sort of Shakespeare or something, but yeah, that wasn’t something I excelled at. I mean, I could kind of get what he was saying, but it was more guesswork than actual knowledge. Chill, though, nodded vigorously and crowed back, “Ye verily, I dost.” Which caused the man to beam in excitement.
“Poe, at thy service, young lad. Well did meet, well did meet, forsooth,” he said with a flourished bow.
Okay, this dude’s name is Poe. Why was the secretary, or was it assistant, speaking like this? It made my brain hurt. Shakespeare wasn’t my forte, but hey, that’s what my brother was for, right?
Before things could go any farther, and much to my relief, A tall, graceful woman walked up to the desk. She was beautiful in a mixed ancestry sort of way. She was older, maybe in her mid-forties, but she was a perfect blend of confident and genuine that left me crushing on her just a bit, and I don’t even swing that way. A glance at my brother showed me he was feeling the same way, and he doesn’t swing that way either.
“Poe, I’m stealing these two. This has to be Chill and Athena, yes?” She looked towards the two of us for confirmation, and we both nodded vigorously.
Poe sighed, “Of course thou art taking hence mine new cater-cousins, yond is mine luck.” His look actually matched his mustache, and it made the name Poe make much more sense.
“Sorry, Poe. I need to get them settled for their internships. They’re the first ones you know, so this will take some finagling,” She gripped the man’s shoulder for a moment then turned back to us with a big smile, “Let’s figure out where to put the two of you. Follow me, we’ll have a quick meeting, then I’ll take you to meet the other employees.”
We waved goodbye to Poe, who gave us an elaborate bow in return. Seriously, that guy was strange... but kind of cool too.
As we walked, the woman spoke, “By the way, I’m Tempest, I’m sorry I didn’t introduce myself as soon as I walked up, but if I didn’t steal you away when I did, we would have been there until lunch. Especially since Chill knows how to properly communicate with him. He probably felt like he was back with his parents acting troupe!”
Ohhh, an acting troupe? No wonder the guy talked like that! Huh... they had a guy like that handling the front desk. I guess this wasn’t your ordinary gaming company. Then again, if it had been, Chill would have never wanted to work here.
Tempest lead us to a large room with a giant U shaped table. We all sat at one end, Chill and I facing each other and Tempest sitting at the tip of the U.
“So,” the woman began, “tell me what you’re good at.”
