I opened my eyes as I sat in the chair in the hospital room the kid was there as he and his mother waited for the doctors to return and give them the news. Honestly no matter what the kid will die, they’re probably gonna say something like he’s gonna die tomorrow or in a week Ha! Reapers don't work like that! Were not controlled by filthy doctors in their white uniforms! The doctor came in with his normal white uniform the board that has nothing important on it and a serious face. Probably thinking of all the money he'll get from the kids death.

“Im sorry but there is nothing we can do he’ll get weaker and die form the smoke…” You could see his grin! That sly little fox!

“H- How much longer does he… he have?!”

“A few hours” More like half an hour but it would be best to end his suffering sooner than later…

“Ma’am may I talk with you outside?” She nodded and stepped out. Probably gonna talk about the bill… I took out my scythe and pulled my hood down a little further and stepped closer to him.

“A- Are you the Reaper from the stories?” I nodded yes. Honestly it’s always sad to have to watch a child die but I have duties to attend to.

“Yes so you know what must happen…” He nodded

“Are you a Reaper that grants one wish?” He went into a coughing fit and still looked at me with teary eyes. I nodded yes and he gave me a smile.

“But I must warn you, you can not wish to continue your life, or for more wishes.”

“I know!” He started to cough with black dust coming from his mouth though he still carried his smile. I turned my head to the door and back to him.

“F- For my wish…” He paused and I had my scythe ready for him to wish for something stupid

“I- I wish for my mom to be happy…!” I was caught off guard and lowered my scythe

“Are you sure this is what you want?” He stared at me then the door where his mom was still talking and gave me the biggest grin.

“Yep! Th- that's my wish… for her to be happy!” I looked at the clock above him and at the next name that appeared on my arm. A persons been shot I need to leave now!

“I have another person to attend to you have 30 minutes left to live… but this is on my time, your wish will be granted when I get back” He smiled and nodded I stepped back into the shadows as his mother came out. Only the person soon to die can see a Reaper. I opened my wings when I went to the window and jumped out. I began to plummet to the ground and just before I hit the portal opened.

“Blood Dragon stop!” I turned to see Death on the side of the tunnel

“Yes Death. How may I help you?” She gave me a glare and pointed to the end of the tunnel I came from.

“Why is he still alive?!” I looked at her and remembered the boy I left.

“He asked for his mother to be happy… I think the best way to do that is to reincarnate him and you know how long that takes. A person has just been shot and I need to deal with that before his soul wanders!” She stared at me and nodded. I'm just glad Death is so reasonable. I waved goodbye and passed out of the portal.
