Eron spent the last three days in bed aching from head to toe. She laid there on her back as stiff as a board. It was the only spot that wasn't burnt by the sun. She had to throw away her pride away and let Reason take care of her. He applied damp rags all over her body the first two days, by the third day she was starting to peel, and was able to move around better.
Reason mentioned on the second day of her recovery that he bought her some time on the ship, but as soon as she could move around freely, she had to go for a second vote, only this time it would be for her life. On the fourth day she was able to feed herself, but it was still causing her pain. Her body felt raw from the peeling. She would sit there for hours just peeling the old skin off trying to make a game out of the sizes to entertain herself in her solitude while she thought about ways to save herself.
Reason and Jon came in through the door startling her daydreams. "Your vote will commence tomorrow at sunrise." Jon hadn't stopped glaring at her since he walked in. Eron could see the hatred he had for her in his eyes, and his eagerness to get her off their ship.
Reason chimed in, stepping in front of Jon. "You will state your case on why we shouldn't toss you overboard, so better think of something and quick." Just as quickly as they came in, they were gone, leaving her alone once more.
Eron decided not to think too much of it. She figured it will be what it is, and there was nothing she could do about it. Accepting her fate she drifted off to sleep. It was the solitude that was starting to get to her. She could understand why people ended up falling for their captors. Eron noticed she was slightly excited to see people even if she hated them. It put other voices in the air around her, other than her own. It was someone to talk with She had never been alone constantly before, and had took advantage of her previous company, regretfully pushing them away.
Reason gently woke up the now tanning viper, her skin was turning brown from the aftereffects of the burn. She wore a thin material over her body. He had dressed her earlier that morning. The material was practically see-through, but since everyone has already seen her naked anyways, he figured it wouldn't matter too much. It was the only material that he knew wouldn't scratch her raw skin.
"It's time." He looked as if this were the last time, he was going to see her. He drank in the sight of her barely covered body, she had a beautiful figure when it wasn't wrapped up to look like a man. It was clear she kept herself thin to hide her feminine features, but he had to admit he enjoyed the outlines of her muscles, so he wasn't sure if he would like her feminine. Her manly side only added to her charm, and it would help since she was his key. However, even he wasn't sure if he would be able to use her now. Jon made things difficult for him these past few days.
They both walked out onto the deck. Her clothes hugged her body from the wind outlining her silhouette. Eron could feel the cold crisp air pierce her raw skin. As the waves crashed heavily against them spraying up over the crew.
A storm was coming, she observed the sky and looked at Reason. "A storm is approaching." Had she been the captain they would already be batting down the hatches and taking position.
"It's just a little rough wind. Don't try and get out of this." Jon gritted through his teeth.
Crash, BOOM! The lightning crashed above their heads.
"BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES, BOYS." Reason smiled at Eron. "LOOKS LIKE WE GET TO HAVE SOME FUN TODAY."
Eron saw so many mistakes in their movements. "You need to secure your rudder, and turn the bow to face..."
"Don't tell me how to run my ship. I've been doing this a long time, and we are still afloat." Reason motioned for his first mate. "Lock her inside."
With that she was pushed back into her dreadful prison box. She hated being inside doors, that was one of the reasons she ran away from home. She wanted to feel free and explore the world, yet, here she was trapped by walls once more and rendered useless.
The ship began to rise and Eron knew what was bound to happen next, she rushed to strap herself in fully aware of the fall that is about to happen. Most of the items in a ship were bolted down. So she didn't need to worry about anything crashing into her, but she didn't want to be flung about the room herself. It wouldn't have even been like this had Reason took notice of the storm before it was on top of them. It was dangerous for the crew on the deck to hit the fall if they were not facing the waves head on. Eron could hear the shouting from outside the door as the bow dipped down. Water was coming in from under the door into the room. The next rise approached quickly after the last one. This time there wasn't a significant amount of water flooding through the door, and the shouting outside began to sound more controlled.
After a good 30 minutes of traveling through the storm everything started to level out. The door to the captain's quarters flung open and Reason stood there dripping wet with a prideful look plastered across his face. "A captain knows his job."
This was the first time he shed his clothes in front of her, and she finally understood why he argued with her about his manhood. She could help but be angry about being caught in her lie. He quickly dressed into dry clothes without turning his eyes from her. She knew he was gorgeous, but his body was just as beautiful for a man. Part of her still wanted to sink her teeth into him but the bigger part of her would have latched on to make him bleed out.
"The voting will be rescheduled for sunset." With that he walked out the door to get back to work. Eron had reasoned with herself, reminding herself why she hates the handsome man.
She half expected the door to slam shut after he left, but to her surprise he left it wide open. Finally, she could get out of her prison. She threw a long coat on and wandered outside she ended up walking towards Reason and stood by his side. His ship was built similar to how hers was, so this was a spot even on her ship that she grew used to, it had been her designated spot when she was captain. Making it where she felt most comfortable standing. Reason turned his head towards her and gave her a smile before ignoring her the rest of the time.
Tired of standing there in silence, since it wasn't her ship Eron decided to join the crew in the clean up after the storm. She joked and laughed with them. Half of the people she spoke with had no opinion of her other than what Jon had been spouting. Eron surprised herself with how she was enjoying their company. It came to a shock to her that none of them mentioned her punishment. She almost felt the need to mention it but decided to let it be. It was a personal code among these men that once a punishment was finished it should never be brought up again, and she wanted to respect that code, it didn't hurt that it also saved her from embarrassing herself all over again.
They mixed their cleaning chores with laughter and stories of how they became a pirate ship to be feared. Though many still felt the need to point out the fact that this wasn't what they signed up for initially. "But we wasn't always pirates miss." One guy spoke out. "We was a fleet in battle, miss."
"How did you guys end up being pirates then?" Eron could see the men's faces change from her question.
"They abandoned us miss, when the war turned cap'n was in the middle and left to die." The crew shouted at these words. "We was better off alone, miss. If theys wasn't helpen us why should we help 'em." With a shout of agreement, the man continued on.
"Barely escaped with me life. Oceans Pint was burnen, but we made it with hard work and loss." Silenced filled the deck.
"Ocean Pint is her name?" Eron changed the subject to make it less awkward.
"Yes miss. She's strong." The men continued telling their individual stories even through dinner. Reason didn't pull her away when she went down to the hull to eat with the rest of the men. She listened to them until it was time for the vote. "Don't worry miss you'll be fine."
"Thanks boys, but things are not always what they seem." With that Eron went to the helm and stood her trial.
Reason and Jon both stated their cases and this time they used a box for secret voting. An 'X' for no and a check for a yes, for her to stay or go. When the last paper was in the box Reason and Jon went into the captain's quarters to take count. The first and second mate watched over Eron.
After an eternity, or so it felt, the two men emerged from the prison box and presented the results. "We have a total of 75 for 'X' and 108 for check. The crew has decided that Miss. Eron will stay." Jon was speaking with an annoyance in his voice. Everyone could tell it wasn't something he was happy about.
Reason was lost in thought over the 75 men that put an X. However, he knew that if he let her out, she wouldn't be able to help herself from helping out, which gained the favor in the vote. With her personality he knew she would aid the crew and form bonds, that was the type of person she was. He had hoped less people would have voted against her, but the men loyal to Jon wouldn't go against him no matter the situation. He would have to keep a close eye on his "key" if he wanted to prevent further trouble.
