There was no mistaking deaths signature, but it was strange she never often cared if a kid was being reincarnated. Just that they don’t break any rules. I went over to my bed layed down and slept. I woke up with my body dead and I was in my Reaper form. I went to the cellar stairs and climbed them and when I opened my eyes I was in heaven! Heaven was always beautiful yet strict. If I died I’d rather be in hell, in most places fiery and hot yet free and untamed. The town was laid with gold and silver clouds that shined in the afternoon sun. I could never get used to the feeling of how relaxed yet tense this place was. I walked through the town and because most angles have never seen a Dragon class Reaper many screamed devil. But some of the angles I had sent here or another Dragon Reaper had sent here, those angles bowed as I passed. I was used to the screaming but the bowing was strange to me. I sat on a bench at one of the parks and waited, soon a little angle ran up to me.
“Ms. Reaper!” He called. It was the boy that I ended, He seemed happy and contented but deep down I could tell he was morning the fact he had to leave his mother.
“It’s time for you to go back young one.” He nodded and almost lit up with excitement. I reached out my hand to him and he took it. I led him to the edge of heaven and sat down with him.
“Why did we stop?” I opened up some of the clouds with my scythe and we watched his mother with a full belly walk into the hospital. “Is she going to be okay!?” I nodded and stood up again he got up with me and I lead him through the open clouds. We landed in the hospital room and I sat off to one side of the room with the boy. But when I looked over my shoulder, there stood a Reaper. A swish in his cap told me he was a Wolf class Reaper. He stood there watching the mother as she gave birth. When the head was out he walked threw the glass and held up his scythe. He brought it down with so much force that he killed the child and immediately it’s soul came out. He nodded to me and left with the soul, I looked at the angle as he watched his mother.
“Touch the baby and you will be reincarnated as him…” The boy slowly reached out and touched the baby. Nothing happened for a moment then he was immediately sucked in and the baby began to cry. It was tears of joy that the small little angel gave away. I whispered to the mother and she knew I was there.
“I did what the boy asked so in return name him angle for his kind soul.” She nodded and I left. Night was creeping in and as I set foot outside the hospital the same Wolf Reaper was there.
“Hey you!” The Wolf Reaper turned around and stared at me. “I know that kid in the hospital wasn’t supposed to die by your hands!” I could see a smile on his face appear through the gloom in his hood.
“But we all know you of all Reapers are too chicken to end a baby’s life! And besides I was passing by when I saw you and that angle kid. It looked like you needed help so I helped you.” He seemed so calm but you could hear the hints in his voice of how cocky and hostile he really was. Most likely before he died he was a gang leader or something like that but I didn’t dare ask because rule number five :.you can not ask what a Reaper’s past life was.: It’s stupid. I looked at my arm as twenty names appeared. I tapped on the first name and looked threw his life, he was good though he did steal from time to time, but because it wasn’t major stealing he was free to go to heaven.
“New kid?” He asked and I nodded. “Okay we’ll see you next time!” He turned and left.
“Prick” I muttered under my breath. I opened up a quick portal and hopped through running to the dying guy. I arrived from Kansas into Missouri. I lived in Indiana so trees! Missouri was nice though I didn’t like it as much. The man was a few feet away from the burning car. There was no street light so you could see the stars clearly. He rolled over onto his back and watched the stars.
“I know you’re there…” he said in a raspy voice blood trickling from his mouth.
“Then you know what must happen?” He nodded “I can grant you a wish if you’d like?” He nodded and layed there thinking.
“I wish I was able to right to all my loved ones one last time.” I nodded and reached up my scythe and swung down. His soul stepped away from his body and looked at me. I gave him a notebook and pen he took them and began to right. He finished five letters and handed them to me.
“I’ll make sure they get these.” He nodded and I led him to a small tree.
“Climb to the first branch and leap off you’ll land on some stairs, climb up and you’ll reach heaven.” He did as instructed and waved goodbye. I looked at the letters and opened a portal to each person's home and left the letters. A name flashed on my arm and I pulled up there life. She was partly bad based on the fact she killed people but, it was to feed her sister after their parents left. I quickly opened the portal and found myself with a man pointing a gun at the older sister while holding a knife to the younger.
“Please! You want me not her!” The older sister was crying and the youngest looked scared.
“Should’ve thought about what might have happened if you stole from us!” He slit the younger sister's throat and shot the older sister and left. I swung my scythe towards both of them and their souls leapt up. The youngest sister ran to her older sister and hugged her crying. The older sister stared at me.
“Why did you let this happen!”
“I can’t interfere with the living world if there was a way I would have saved you.” She dropped to the floor and the little sister came up to me.
“She won’t be sent to hell right?” I shook my head
“I cannot give away anything.” She stared at me and took a breath
“I wish me and my sister both went to heaven!” Her older sister started and then spoke
“I wish we were both revealed who we truly are.” I nodded and turned the youngest sister into a golden angel and the oldest sister into a red angle. I lead them both to the roof and they instinctively jumped and flew to the clouds. It went on like this all night, but after every death I always felt... empty. I guess it’s another perk of being a Reaper.
