“Praise the guardians! Thank God for these protectors! Almighty is Our Lord the Savior!”

There they were, standing side by side, each holding a fist towards the sky like victors upon a pedestal. I gazed at the humble pair. Rugged like the rest of us, and yet they seemed out of my grasp. They absorbed the chants of the crowd but with bittersweet acceptance.

Had they felt unworthy of the praise? Were they exemplifying humbleness and humility?

No. The more I stared, the more uneasy I felt. It was like they were guilty of something we weren’t aware of.

I prayed that my doubts were simply a result from the chaos beyond the gates. Were we truly hailing the holy descendants or…?
