Laughter filled the hull, as the crew drank and played games. Eron spent her evenings in the lower decks away from Reason. It had been a month since they voted for her to stick around, and almost two months since she has been held prisoner. No one ever asked her to help out or to bond with others, but she did it anyways. It was either join or die with pirates, and she had no intention of dying before she could get news of her crew for any survivors.
Reason saw her below deck with his crew gambling and drinking. Displeased with her actions he walked down the steps and stood behind her silently with his hands on his hips, as he stared down at the top of her head. He stood there until the whole room went silent.
"Why did you stop?" Eron said holding the cup for a refill. The crew looked up behind her and she felt a hand grip her upper arm and yank her to her feet.
"What do you think you are doing?" Reason turned her to face him.
"I'm having a good time. What is that not allowed either? I'm clearly not going anywhere or harming anyone. So, what's your problem?" Eron yanked her arm out of his grasp.
"Go upstairs now." Showing no room for argument in his tone he pointed up the stairs.
Unfortunately, Eron didn't care to listen to him. "No!" She crossed her arms. "You came aboard MY ship, kill MY crew, set fire to my ship, take me captive, and now cage me? Do you have no end to your inhumanity?" She tried to turn back around to the game.
Reason bent down and grabbed her by the waist throwing her over his shoulder and hauled her up the stairs like a sack of potatoes. He didn't set her down until they were in his quarters.
"You are such an ass." She kicked him in the shin. When he went to grab it out if pain, and she sent a right hook to his jaw.
Seeing her fist near his face he leaned his head back just enough that she barely missed. His reflexes acted quick enough to use her own momentum against her. He pulled her fist along its path making her fall forward on the floor. Reason quickly sat on her back and in a swift motion he pulled out a knife, grabbed her hair, and placed it to her throat. "I admire your mental capacity." He said kissing her temple. Withdrawing his knife, he got off of her and stood up.
Eron's nose was bleeding from meeting the floor a moment ago. Wiping her nose, she glared at him. "Pervert."
"So, you have said." Reason laughed and walked out the door locking her inside.
"What is your plan with her?" Jon had his arms crossed waiting for Reason outside the door.
"I have told you. I don't feel the need to repeat myself every time you ask." Reason walked past him tired from having the same conversation for the past month. All his old friend could think about was Eron, and it set off warning signs in Reason.
"No, it isn't about that anymore. Do you have feelings for that bitch?" Jon grabbed Reason's shoulder stopping him from walking away. Their relationship had been faltering ever since Eron came aboard, and it pissed Jon off to think Reason would back out of his plan because he loved the girl.
"Say, what you mean!" Reason turned back to Jon brushing off his hand.
"Get rid of her or you will personally take responsibility and join her." Jon was tired of the way Reason had been running things. Reason was in no way suitable to be a captain anymore, not according to Jon, and it was about time he did something about it.
"Are you threatening me?" Reason lowered his voice and placed his hand on the hilt of his sword.
"Reason, I think it's time we revisit the vote, and maybe your rank as captain." Jon turned on his heels and left to his room, leaving Reason to revel over what he said.
The truth was Reason did feel something for this girl, but he hadn't even figured it out himself. He liked her feisty behavior, but she was always picking fights with him. Eron's sharp tongue always made it hard for him to enjoy being with her, but he happened to like that about her as well. She wasn't someone he could easily push around, and he found that attribute attractive about her. However, there was the small matter of killing all her sea 'family.' Reason sat up against his cabin door pondering his feeling for Eron as he drifted off to sleep.
2 AM
Jon gathered his men in the dead of the night. He had been coaxing some of the crew to go against the captain for the past month now. He was tired of being ordered around, and tired of Reason being with that girl. It was supposed to be those two against the world taking what they want, when they want it, but ever since Eron came aboard he has focused his entire time watching and fighting with her, and it made him sick to his stomach.
"Tonight, we kill the bitch." Jon said to his men as they approached the captain's quarters. Jon saw Reason slumped against his door fast asleep outside fueling his disgust.
"He left a perfectly comfortable room to that whore. All the while he slept outside in the cold, such a weak captain." Bending down Jon brushed Reasons cheek lightly. If not for 'her' he wouldn't hate the man that sat before him. A man that he once considered family. "Take him away."
The men grabbed Reason, startling his awake. He started to fight against their restraints, but Jon slammed the back of his pistol against Reason's head knocking him out cold.
Eron woke to the commotion going on outside of the door, and she began to prepare herself for a fight. She has been fighting and training for the past eight years for situations like this. She sure as hell wasn't going to go down easy or she would at least make sure she took a few of them with her. Quickly hiding a sword by her feet, she waited for the attackers to make their way inside.
Jon busted through the door and scanned the cabin for her. When their eyes met Jon lifted his pistol and raised it at her. Eron kicked up the sword that she hid by her feet and lunged forward before the gun had reached the destination where Jon intended to shoot her. Jon had dodged her first thrust and floundered about the room as Eron kept swinging at him. He didn't have time to point the gun at her again, with having to evade her thrusts. On one swing Eron had finally got a lucky and nicked his shoulder causing him to drop his pistol. One of his hands held the wound for a second, but he quickly had to evade more energized swings.
Jon searched for an opening, Eron had gotten excited from hitting him with her sword that she was starting to tire out. When he saw his opportunity, he tackled her to the ground. His fists repetitively hit Eron's face. She was quickly swelling, and she saw her blood coating Jon's fist and flying around her at contact from each hit.
Once her face became distorted, he was finally satisfied with hitting her. He reached over and picked his pistol back up ready to end it, he positioned the gun at her forehead. Drawing the hammer back he gave Eron a last smile, but before he could pull the trigger he was being grabbed and pulled off of Eron.
Two men that Eron played games with earlier that evening dashed into the room and grabbed Jon to pulled him off of her. "Jon, you have gone too far." Reason stumbled in through the door leaning on the door frame. When he saw Eron he no longer cared about his own pain and he rushed to her side. He reached down and scooped her up in his arms to place her on his bed. "Tie him up for the night." He ordered his men not looking away from Eron.
"Sorry I'm late." Reason scanned her face; he grabbed her chin moving her face around to see the damage. He hadn't been gentle causing Eron to passed out to his touch, from it being to much pain for her to handle with no more adrenaline in her system to keep her alert. "He will pay for touching you." Reason was no longer in a mood that could be coaxed down, as he stormed out of the room and went to face off with Jon.
