Greer sat there looking over the paperwork she was given. Somehow this had gotten a lot bigger than she was expecting. All she had wanted was a support group but this had somehow blown up. Sato was helping her write the report based on what she had said, but she had all these forms to sign. Dewi was double checking everything.

“Why am I signing these?”

Sato didn’t even look up. “Because you are going to be running part of the new department being created. They should have let you try to run everything, since you came up with it, but that’s neither here nor there. I can get you some good assistants, if you think you’ll need them.”

Greer looked. “Not really, I mean, I don’t know anything about running stuff…. Just fixing machines and stuff…” She looked and signed a few more things, “For the record I’m only signing this stuff because you promised me it won’t screw me over. Anyway, how did it blow up so much?”

Dewi smirked. “Sato must have gone on a rant for his poor little sister.”

“I can probably bench either of you so shush…”

Sato looked up, setting down the report. “Simply put, you weren’t really wrong Greer. We… well I certainly thought people like you were an oddity. It would seem that’s not the case. Not only are there more people than expected who are on their own, there are some who registered and then never even told their family… only for another family member to register some years down the line. We had them marked but we were unaware that no communication was occurring with the less obvious powers.” He let out a breath. “I was serious when I said we have only existed for 50 years and as such we don’t have everything solved… but for there to be this much oversight…”

Greer looked to Sato. “Well… tradition of silence and all that, right?”

Sato nodded. “Of course I told them all of this was your idea and you have several others in the wings. I’ll be accompanying you to a board meeting on Tuesday. I’ve made sure you aren’t on duty.”

Greer looked to Dewi. “…I should be glad he hasn’t already got an entire building made huh?”

Dewi nodded and smiled. “Still, it’s nice to see our little sister having good ideas. How did a smart cookie like you not go to college?”

Greer looked at Dewi. “Could you honestly see me dealing with a college professor and writing essays?”

Dewi thought a moment. Before he could speak Sato spoke up. “I certainly can. You aren’t the best with your words, but you are very thorough in your research and cross referencing. You’re just bad at writing essays. You’d be invaluable in a group project as you’d get chosen to do the legwork.”

Greer looked at Sato, a bit surprised. “Um, right…. Cool… am I done signing things?”

Sato nodded, but before she could get up. “Now you need to approve the floor layout.”

She just looked at him. Dewi smiled. “Come on, soon as you’re done, we’ll go for a run.”

Greer shook her head. “Nah I need to mess with Blake’s car… don’t like how it sounds. I’m gonna fix it.”

Dewi looked at her a little surprised. “Did he ask?”

“Nope, but if you guys are family then I’m fixing it before he gets ripped off because I know 6 year olds that know more about cars that you two, and if he says no I’ll convince him.”

Sato looked at the time. “At our current rate, perhaps you should plan on that another day.”

Greer groaned and put her head on the table, Dewi patting her on the back before going to get her some coffee.
