In the morning Zoe jumps out of bed hearing a knock on the door. The hotel
staff was bringing breakfast around to all the guest.
“Thank you very much.”
I couldn’t believe for a small hotel they treated everyone so good. The
breakfast was bacon, scrambled eggs, orange juice, and a piece of toast. It
was more then I have eaten in a while. Quickly I ate it all just looking out the
window to Gavin. It was a nice city from the looks of it. That is when I could
see more of the police from my vision on the street. Okay I took back what I
said about it being nice. This place was a waking nightmare right now. How
was I supposed to not get noticed by those hunters? I take a deep breathe
looking into my bag at the money left. I paid for two nights, it would be a
waste to leave.
Leaving my thoughts behind I head out to explore the city. I wanted to figure
out my next step. It was also to find an escape route if I needed one. As I
walked a few women commented on my appearance. They kept mumbling as
I pass them giving a smile. I laughed when they seemed annoyed by my
response. Ladies I’ve dealt with assholes all my life. If their petty remarks
could hurt my feelings that would be a miracle in itself. I stopped in front of
a small cafe, drawn in by the smells. It was so sweet yet bitter at the same
time. The cafe owner smiled as I walked to the counter.
“Um...what would you suggest?”
The owner looked for a moment then pulled out a banana muffin with
chocolate chips on it. They walked over making a small cup of a strong black
coffee.
“These should go great together. The bitter and sweet contrast nicely.”
I give him a smile paying for it.
I walk over sitting down in a chair in the corner. As enjoying my muffin I hear
a familiar voice that sent chills down my spine. Was this just a unlucky day
for me? Seriously I had to run into the freak killer here of all places. I sulk
down in my chair trying not to be noticed but to no avail.
“Well if it isn’t Miss run away again. Seems you and I just keep running into
one another.”
I sit up in my chair giving him a smile. Mentally I was screaming bloody
murder. Why did he have to pick this place out of all the cafe places in Gavin.
Noah sits down across from me without even waiting for a response.
“Um...I guess just lucky that way.”
He gave a smile looking to my eyes. When I was worried about something
they turned a deep brown almost looking black.
“Seems your eyes change color often Miss.”
Wait was he paying that close attention to me. Shit! All I needed was for him
to figure out I wasn’t human any longer.
I took a sip of my coffee trying to avoid talking. Noah smirks seeing how she
didn’t want to talk.
“Are you always this evasive when people try talking to you Miss?”
I let out a sigh looking up to him.
“My name is Zoe Lapis. Yes actually I tend not to like talking to people in
general. It is too much of a hassle not to be rude.”
He burst out laughing which caught me off guard.
“Well Miss Zoe it is a pleasure to meet you formally now. I am Noah Black.”
He put out his hand for me to shake. Letting out another sigh I shake his
hand.
“Yeah like you said Noah.”
Seems my attitude amused him. Why did he have to be interested in me in
the slightest? We sat there in silence enjoying our coffee as it felt even more
weird. When I finished I stood up to leave. As walking past Noah he grabbed
my hand.
“Um...yes?”
He stood up not even speaking just walking with me. Wait a minute did this
mean he figured out everything?
He lead me to a car opening the door basically pushing me into the backseat.
Great the one person in this whole city I wanted to avoid was kidnapping
me.
“Wait a minute where in the hell are you taking me Noah?”
He closes the door as the driver starts the car taking off.
“Are you scared Miss Zoe?”
He laughed a little looking to my frustrated expression.
“Not scared just really annoyed.”
Noah gives a smile looking out the window.
“Don’t worry you are not under arrest. I just wanted someone to come with
me to this place. I can’t stand that woman. You are going to help me by
playing my girlfriend.”
Um...wait I was supposed to play his girlfriend? How did it come to this in
the first place. I should have just been super rude when he sat down walking
away.
“Why in the hell should I help you like that? I only met you on the train. I
don’t even like being close to people.”
He laughed leaning over while cupping my chin in his hand.
“Because if you don’t I will keep you as my personal pet.”
My eyes widen as I pull back from his grip. What the fucking hell was wrong
with this man? He had more then a few screws lose in his head.
