Erik turned towards Edward and walked over to him. He helped him get back to his feet, “It is a big thing to blame your brother for your disappearance. He is the current King.”
“I am the rightful King though. My brother only is keeping my throne warm till I come back.”
“Edward turned towards me, “May I get a little bit of your time. Just the two of us though.” He turned back towards Erik, who was crossing his arms now.
I nodded, “We can go speak in my room. Erik, you can stand outside if you want, but without Father here, you don’t have to stay as close. Feel free to get some rest.”
“I do appreciate your thoughtfulness, but it is my job to stay by your side for your safety. I will respectfully stand outside your door as you two speak.” I nodded.
We walked back to my room and I watched Edward close the door behind him as he finally turned towards me.
“I want to see something.” He pulled out the eye patch and gave it to me, “Please put this on now.” I looked at him and tilted my head in confusion. “Just do it.” He replied annoyed. I did as he said and fiddled with tying it behind my head. I looked at him for a moment with my one eye and watched him slowly begin to fad.
He reached out and as he did, I noticed I could now see through him. He yanked off the eye patch and I noticed him becoming more visible again. “As I thought, it is your doing that I am seen.” He walked over and sat on my bed, “Without you, I am nothing.” He continued to stare at me for a second and stood back up. He walked close to me and grabbed my chin as he stared into my eyes, “That eye belongs to another soul. No wonder the King covered it up. You would be called a witch if you were actually seen in the towns. I was unaware of him actually even having a son till I saw you in the garden. I have heard of your sister though. When she was born, many kingdoms wanted to send sons to marry her when she comes of age. The power your Father has is almost endless. I promised him a dragon, but your father has actually taken down a few himself. He is a very powerful man.”
I turned around as something hit the window. I noticed it was Freda. She was violently attacking the window. I walked over and opened it up and watched as she perched up on my bed. Her gaze was directly on Edward and he began to laugh.
“Such a loyal bird.” He walked over and shut the window. He was now towering above me, “Your Father was the cause of my Father’s death. Our kingdoms use to be at war years ago. He came home with multiple wounds and knew he wouldn’t recover. As the next in line, he sent me to deliver the surrender agreement. The group I was sent out with, was attack though. I don’t remember much about what actually happened, but now I am here. It looks like someone from the group made it though, because my kingdom still stands and so yours this one. I know though, your Father wants to watch mine burn still because we are one of the only Kingdoms still around, that could do damage to his army due to our dragons we raise.”
