What in the…? Onyx headed for the building as I sat in the car trying to regain my thoughts, Should I take what he just said seriously…? I mean he just brushed it off…
“That’s rough, cat…” The driver said with a shake of his head, “You should know by now that guy says a lot of things that he doesn’t mean! Don’t take it to heart too much, okay?”
“Right, best that I go now!” I smiled pulling my bag over my shoulder, I just wish he wouldn’t joke about things like that. He sounded so serious when he said it too…
. . .
Alright… I’m fine… I stood face drenched in the book store’s bathroom mirror. On the bright side, my face was returning to its normal shade as I dried the moisture from my face, “That’s enough… I’ve calmed down.”
I headed out to the main floor joining Onyx at the table that had been set up for the signing. He was sat at the desk organizing himself as I sat down. He hardly gave me a look as he silently clenched and unclenched his hands as the moments before the fans were let inside ticked away.
“You hate crowds that much?” I inquired trying to be gentle with the flustered boy beside me. This isn’t the time to worry about what he said, right? “If it’s too much we can go in the back for a moment. I’m sure they’ll be fine waiting a bit longer.”
“It’s not that…” The pink-haired boy fidgeted in his seat as he cautiously looked up at me. Onyx really didn’t hate people or his fans by any means. In fact, it was quite the opposite, “I just don’t want to disappoint them. I mean I’m just a useless writer who can’t take care of myself…” He was actually extremely self-conscious.
I sighed resting a hand on his shoulder, “Look at me.” I order softly pulling his face towards me, “Please, don’t take everything I say to heart… I know I say some really awful things sometimes, but I only want the best for you.” I slowly found one of his hands squeezing it tightly, “Onyx, you’re really hard worker and you’re one of the sweetest guys out there. Don’t let me or anyone else make you believe otherwise, okay? I just don’t always say what I mean. Sorry about that…”
“Starburst…!” Onyx cried quietly squeezing his arms around me, “I don’t know what you’re saying…” He muttered looking up at me brightly from his tight hold, “You seem to always know the right things to say to me. I think I’ll be alright. Thanks, Star…”
“Yeah…” My face was bright red again as I stroked his hair turning my face away a bit, What’s with me lately?
“Hey, you two…” Onyx’s editor, Anthony, appeared with a large stack of books, “Are you two going to get to business any time soon?” He grumbled dropping the books to the table. To be honest, I wasn’t very fond of the man, but he was incredibly good at his job, “We’d better let them in before there’s a riot…”
“Geez…” I muttered under my breath as Onyx and I pulled away from each other, “We’re here on time, aren’t we? If you’re so hyped about it just get to it.”
The editor gave me a glare before doing as I said, “You better be careful you damned feline or I’ll bar you from accompanying Onyx anymore.” He remarked over his shoulder as he marched for the door.
“If only the actual person would actually agree to that.” I shrugged smirking devilishly, “But, if you want to try that, go right ahead.”
“That’s enough…” Onyx scolded me lightly giving my shoulder a poke, “He means well.”
“Yes, Sir…” I scoffed crossing my arms, I really don’t understand how Onyx deals with that guy so easily.
. . .
“That’s the last one,” Anthony said as Onyx smiled at the one last girl in the queue.
“It’s a shame you can’t have any signings during the day…” The girl chatted with Onyx as he signed her copy of the book, “I have a hard time staying up this late…”
“Yes, that is too bad, isn’t it?” The vampire smiled as he finished up, “Unfortunately, I’m just really a night person.”
She laughed at his joke grinning as she squeezed the book to her chest, “Vampires, are really cool though. Thank you so much for all your work! You inspire me so much!”
“Don’t give me so much credit.” Onyx laughed himself as he made a light defensive motion with his hand, “All of you, my fans, are the ones that inspire me!”
. . .
“Well, it’s time to go then, Onyx,” I told him as I pulled on my jacket and grabbed my bag. We were in the back of the store retrieving a few things as we got ready to leave for his house, “Onyx…?”
The vampire was hunched over panting leaning on a table struggling to retain his balance, “I’m…” He could hardly get a breath in as his face grew red from the tremendous effort, he was putting into staying stable.
“Are you hungry?” I asked earning a violent nod from the boy as he continued to huff for breath, “You forgot the one I prepared for you, huh?” He nodded again, “Well, I guess there’s no choice…”
“Yeah, sorry…” He muttered stumbling to his feet as he let go of the table, “We’ll just have to hurry home.”
“What’re you saying?” I asked as I started to unbutton my shirt, “You’re going to die if you don’t have something right now. Look at the state that you’re already in. Do you really think you can make it home like that?”
“Well…” His face had gone bright red as he looked me over, “I really don’t want to trouble you though…”
“Just do it already…” My ears twitched as I pulled closer to the vampire, “You’re clearly not going to make it home, so just take enough to hold you over until we get back.
“Okay…”
. . .
We had moved to the floor in the far corner of the room since Onyx still didn’t have the strength to stand properly, “It’s okay…” I urged him gently as I leaned my neck toward him, “I’m consenting, so you have nothing to worry about.”
“Okay…” He lowered his face to just above my skin his pants warm and moist against me, “Just let me know If it hurts too much…!” His tongue slid up my neck as he snaked his arms around me.
“Nnnn…” I whimpered as he slipped his fangs into my neck, “Onyx…” He only bit down harder as he took in my blood and pulled his hands up to my ears massaging them as he continued to drink, “Uhnn…” I held back a purr in my throat as he kept his hands moving on my ears, “On-yx…” I whimpered again before he finally pulled away, “Huh…?”
“Are you alright?” He embraced me letting out a deep breath, “That didn’t hurt too much, did it?”
“No, I’m fine…” I leaned into him hiding my face in his chest as we rested for a moment longer, “I guess we shouldn’t keep the driver waiting too long…” Geez, my head seriously got fuzzy for a bit there…
