Romy and Hudson headed to his vehicle, he grabbed the door handle and opened it for her.
"And the chivalry continues--where are you takin' me anyway?" She asked
"H-How do feel about stars?" He asked
"I love them." She eyed him skeptically. "What are getting at, Mascot?"
"You'll s-see, Cheerleader."
"Speaking of." She opened her coat to reveal her uniform. "It's Charity Week."
"I got some Currency for your metal pouch i-if you want it."
"Maybe after. You're still stuttering, you know."
He swallowed hard. She was wearing her cheer leading uniform. "Sorry, it's just that you d-d-distract me by looking like that."
"Oh! Sorry--I HAVE to wear this. How 'bout I keep my coat on?" She grabbed her hair in an upright position. "And put my hair up?"
[Even more d-distracting--it's impossible NOT t-to be. I'll try for her though.] He thought
"Um, how's your a-ankle?"
"It's...getting there."
They arrived at their destination and he held the door open for her. She could see a tall building with a distant dome-shaped shaped roof.
"An observatory, that could be cool." She tried to peek into the nearest window and neither or heard anyone. "I think it's closed--got a Plan B?"
"No, I'm gonna s-stick with Plan A." He said and pulled some keys from a string around his neck. She looked at him with perplexity.
"They're my Dad's, he owns the place. He lets Scientists u-use the building for stuff sometimes."
As they walked through the halls, she felt uncomfortable. She wasn't very keen on traveling in the darkness.
"At least turn on a light." She said
"Nope, almost there so just bare with m-me."
The last room they entered was the size of a large theater. When he turned on the lights, Romy was astonished by the display before her. The equipment was unlike anything she'd ever seen. There were rows of seats centered around a large, blue machine. It had three-dimensional circles and was bolted to the ground by a huge platform plate. The ceiling wasn't exactly sturdy, but the temporary covering was appreciated.
"It's a new Planetarium. Unfortunately, it's not open to the public yet."
As she walked further down the aisle, she smiled when she saw a blanket with containers of food.
She attempted to balance herself and tried to sit, but limping made it difficult. Romy felt her legs giving in, but Hudson grabbed her by the waist and she stared at him with wide eyes.
"J-Just trying to help you down." He said and placed her down gently.
She smiled. "Hudson! This is so cool, and sweet at the same time."
"Glad you like it. Y-You hungry?"
"Starved!" She wasn't a very polite eater, which is why she hardly ate in public.
"I see you like the spread." He appreciated a girl with an appetite for life and food.
"Wait, you didn't stutter." She flipped her hair over one shoulder slowly. "Guess I'm not as distracting as I thought."
"U-um--" He looked away
"Oops! Sorry." She pushed her hair out the way and continued to dining.
Hudson stared in wonder, and his eyes made her self-conscious and she released her sandwich.
"Sorry, I didn't eat much today. Cheer leading Diet."
"Why? You l-look GREAT to m--"
"Thanks. So about the Junior Gala..."
"I-I assumed you wanted us to m-match colors. What color IS your dress anyway?" He asked
"Truth be told, I haven't gotten one yet. Sorry. What's your tuxedo look like?"
"J-Just a tux with a teal vest and bow tie. I'm kinda nervous about the whole thing."
"Why?"
"B-Because you're YOU and I'm--"
She giggled. "A stuttering mascot who's kind of adorable?"
"Y-You think I'm ador-ador-ador--" He stopped when she grabbed his chin flirtatiously.
"Yeah, I do. Now, show me what you brought me out here for."
He got up and calculated the machine.
"Now, the small circle on the very top is called the Constellation Figure Projector."
"Okaay....what's a constellation?" She asked
"Basically, it's a group of stars that make up big pictures...."
He was clearly passionate about astrology, this made her smile. Hudson Khiler was indeed adorable in her eyes.
