It was almost noon when I finally made my way out of bed. The apartment was unsettling quiet as I entered the kitchen in search of coffee. I used to be so used to silence, but since Sully had started living with me, I had grown accustomed to a certain level of noise. Upon inspection, the noise wasn’t the only thing that was off. The coffee hadn’t been made and there were no dirty dishes in the sink.
“Sully?” I questioned knocking on his door lightly, “Are you alright?” There was no response even as I started pounding roughly at the door, “Come on, I know you’re here!” Oh no… I thought trifling a hand through my mussed-up hair, what do I do if some college student murderer kidnapped him while I was sleeping?!?
There was a groan from the other side as Sully stumbled to the door, “What is it…?” His voice was a croaky mess and if anything, he looked worse than he sounded, “Sorry, if you were expecting coffee, but I’m really not feeling it today.”
“I was just expecting you~!” I purred placing a hand to his forehead. Yikes! I jerked my hand away, that’s one hell of a fever, “Go back to bed!”
“Huh?” He muttered sniffling, “Robin, you’re being even weirder than usual…”
“I’m not being weird at all!” I bit back, “If you’re sick tell me…” I huffed crossing my arms, “I’m going to the drug store, so just rest until I get back!”
“Okay…” Sully sighed padding back to his bed with little complaint, “I just don’t get why it’s such a big deal. I can handle a little cold, ya know…”
“It’s not just a little cold!” I shook my head as I grabbed my keys from my desk, “You’re burning up! You don’t honestly think I can leave you like that?”
. . .
Crap, what the hell am I doing? I slid my key into the ignition feeling the rumbled of the engine as I gave the key a turn, I don’t know a thing about taking care of someone… I pulled into the parking lot of the local drugstore before pulling my phone from my pocket and doing some quick research.
I warily got out of the car ruffling my fingers through my hair as I walked through the automatic door. The aisles were all obviously labeled, so I easily found the cold medicine.
Non-drowsy… Diabetic friendly… I looked at the labels wondering what type Sully preferred as I pulled a standard bottle of cold medicine from the shelf, this should work, right…?
. . .
“I had cold medicine, ya know…” Sully chuckled through a cough as I poured the medicine out for him, “You should have asked before you drove all the way there…”
Shit, why didn’t I think of that…? “Well, you see…” I pushed the small cup toward him, “Hey, I could give it to you with my mouth if you prefer!” Stupid, stupid, stupid…
“What…? That doesn’t seem very sanitary or very effective…” Sully laughed again quickly downing the medicine before taking a swig from the bottle of water on his bedside table, “Don’t take it too hard… Thanks for doing this for me!”
“Yeah…” My face started to flush as I took the cup back from him, “I’d do anything for a hunk like you!” I headed for the kitchen placing the bottle of medicine along with the cup next to the sink.
. . .
“Hnnn…” I rubbed my eyes as I woke up realizing that I’d fallen asleep in Sully’s chair, “Ah, he’s sleeping…” He looks so peaceful I don’t want to disturb him… The brown-haired boy’s chest slowly rose and fell, He looks so cute like this… “I’m glad he’s finally getting some rest…” I placed a hand to his forehead smiling lightly as I gently ran my fingers through his hair, His fever’s gone already…
