So Raven searched for a friend, a companion, throughout the land. She flew from village to village, kingdom to kingdom, hoping through the world in her endless pursuit. The seasons passed slowly for one of her mind; the simple pleasures other beasts and humans enjoyed could never hold her attention. She would stalk prey for sport to help alleviate her boredom but never would they escape her for long.
One autumn Raven came across a village by a sea. She hung about the eaves of their simple log homes, stealing carrion and trinkets as she taught herself their language. Several moons came and went before her rudimentary skills bore fruit, a mystery she felt compelled to understand. During the night terrible howls would echo through those peaks, a beast's cries of loneliness and despair. Raven found her attention peaked.
