I had reached the last of the old and dusty steps in a matter of minutes, sneezing along the way as the dust build-up was something to truly cry over.
However, the room that the stairwell led me to was even worse.
It was small and very cramped, cobwebs seemed to cover every wall, and there was a faint smell of mildew and mold.
Had I just climbed down a whole flight of stairs for nothing?
I had asked myself.
I had just begun to walk up the stairs when I heard a very faint sound of gears turning, followed by another creak.
Turning around, I found that a small door had opened within the room, bright light shining out of it.
“Hello?”
I asked again.
Still no answer.
So, like any smart person in this situation, I walked over to the door and crawled through it, amazed and somewhat horrified at what awaited me in this new room.
It was so much different from the one that I had just come from.
There were no cobwebs or dust bunnies, in fact, every surface was clean and pristine, the only thing occupying the various tables and countertops being Chemistry equipment. It all looked so new.
I decided to look around a bit, careful not to touch or break anything.
And then I saw something truly horrifying.
At the far end of the room was a test tube full of some sort of yellow-tinted liquid and wires attached to a boy.
The boy was wearing a generic white hospital gown, his auburn hair floating around his soft shaped face, and his large eyes closed, almost like he was sleeping.
He looked so peaceful, but at the way his face scrunched up, I could tell he was in some sort of pain.
Softly putting my hands on the glass, I began tapping.
The boy's eyes snapped open, making me gasp and take a step back, stumbling upon something.
Behind me were empty testing tubes, all with different student names and pictures.
Horrified, I ran out of the room and up the stairs, slamming the false wall shut.
They’re experimenting on students.
