“Oh my God..”
Bethany gasped as we finally approached the horrid sight of the occupied testing tube.
I had to agree with her.
“This isn’t even the worst of it.”
I said, taking a shaky breath.
“There are dozens of empty testing tubes along the wall over there, all labeled with different student names and IDs.”
“But why is this one still occupied? Where did everyone else go?”
Bethany asked, slowly getting more and more hysteric.
“ I don’t even recognize any of these names.”
“Maybe they were older students,” I said, trying to calm her down. “Maybe they came to school before us.”
“Yeah, maybe you’re right.”
We stood in silence for a little while, Bethany slowly calming down.
“Hey, not to ruin the moment or anything, but I think you guys really need to see this.”
Jacob called out, startling us both.
Running over to Jacob, our hearts sank even more.
Right in front of Jacob was a pit full of the missing students, their bodies lying strewn across the ground, the word “defective” scribbled on each of their foreheads.
“Oh my God!”
Bethany shrieked, visibly shaking.
“Oh my God...Oh my God.”
I stared into the pit, observing the corpses and trying not to vomit at the same time.
“We need to get the hell out of here.”
Jacob whispered.
Nodding, I gently grasped Bethany’s arm and helped her up, guiding her towards the exit.
“Hey! What’re you kids doing in here!”
Someone called out.
Shit.
