Lila awoke groggily and slightly in pain. She yawned and stretched. Instantly she stopped feeling the pain start in her ankle. Clenching her teeth she remembered the events of yesterday. Getting mad, falling, in her car with Mr. Keliel- no Marcus driving. But how did she get home? she wondered. She looked over with squinted eyes at her alarm clock. It was already 9 o'clock? Her eyes went large in fear. Surely she'd be fired today for her tardiness! Scrambling she tried to ignore the pain as she got out of bed. Before even taking a step, when she put even the slightest amount of weight on it she crumpled to the floor in a heap. She yelped as she fell onto the soft carpet. She clutched her foot urging the pain to dissipate. She stayed like that for about half an hour before lugging herself back into bed.
Sighing, invisible Spencer watched her in pain, before phasing through the floor and out the front door. He floated across her lawn to Isaac's front door. He turned off his invisibility and knocked gently. With his super hearing he heard Isaac stumbling around upstairs, then down the stairs and towards the front door. With a soft click the door unlocked and Isaac looked up at Spencer, squinting at the bright morning sunlight outside. Spencer smiled then invited himself in brushing past Isaac who barely stepped back in time to make space. He strolled into the kitchen and leaned against the counter casually.
"So.... I need a favor." Isaac looked quizzically at Spencer as he said this obviously feeling slightly awkward. Isaac said and suddenly had an idea. His duel colored eyes widened and brighten accordingly. Recovering quickly, like a poker player with a good hand he hid his feelings instantly behind a mask of indifference.
"I get a favor in return I presume?" Spencer looked away, debating. His brows furrowed and he glanced at little marsh mellow Isaac and decidedly nodded his head. "What is it you require?"
"Some pain medication." At Isaac's odd look he quickly added, "It's not for me and don't ask please. I just need some strong pain med's." Biting his tongue Isaac disappeared upstairs. Coming down after a small while he held a white bottle in his hand. He handed it to Spencer who smiled widely at the transaction. "I really owe you one, thanks bro."
Isaac blushed at the comfort with which Spencer used the word. "No problem....Bro." He said looking away. "Now get out, I'm working!" Isaac accordingly pushed Spencer out of his house and slammed the front door behind him. Spencer smiled to himself looking at the bottle in his hand. He went back over to Lila's to see her on the phone. He listened intently as he concealed himself quickly. He almost forgot to do so, revealing himself to her.
"I'm already excused?..... Oh... Well thank you.... yeah... I'll go see the doctor today... mm... See you soon." He overheard before she hung up. He couldn't hear the words of the other voice on the phone, but he could tell it was a man. A fury filled his chest. Angrily he threw the bottle at her, hitting her in the fore head.
Blinking in confusion Lila looked up straight at him. She touched her head and muttered a soft ow and cluelessly looked around the room.
"Where the heck did that come from?" She asked the seemingly empty room. She looked down at the bottle and read the label. Blinking twice she opened the bottle, took some pills and swallowed. Spencer stared at her wide-eyed. Did she really just take pain pills that hit her in the face from no-where? Walking away, massaging his temples Spencer thought to himself,
"What. An. Idiot."
