"Howdy neighbor!" Spencer exclaimed happily. "We're here to welcome you to the neighborhood! I'm Spencer Maier, and this is my roommate Isaac Stewart." Lila nodded with gritted teeth and held onto the door for her life.
"Ah... Hello, my name is Lila Peaks. It's nice to meet you both and I'm sorry but this is kinda a bad time. My ankle is sprained right now and I'm in extreme pain." Spencer accordingly changed his expression to that of concern mirroring Isaac's as if he really hadn't known.
"Well if you need any medication we can bring some over... just give us a call... Here is our number." He said with genuine concern handing her a small business card.
"Ah... I sure will. Thank you for stopping by, anyways. Goodbye." She said taking the card in one hand and smiling reluctantly. Spencer leaned forward and held the door for her as she moved to the stairs. Once she had a grip on the railing of the stairs, Spencer and Isaac said their good byes and closed the door for her. Once the door closed Spencer lead the walk back to Isaac's house. Isaac said nothing as he followed. Once in their home Spencer plopped himself down on the couch and waited for Isaac to sit in the chair across from himself.
"So you want the truth?" Spencer said to Isaac, emphasizing the word 'truth'. Isaac gave him a curt nod and Spencer continued. "Well... Since you really want to know, I'm not human." Isaac's eyes widened slightly and the corner of his lips turned up in the slightest.
"Of course I was right." He responded adjusting his glasses. "Continue." He said as Spencer's glare struck him.
"As I was saying, I'm not human. I'm... there's not really a word for it besides... sandman."
"A Sandman?" Isaac interrupted once more.
"We call ourselves Sandmen and we are run by an organization. I've never been there, but it doesn't matter. We track missions using our 'cell phones', but really they are complex tracking devices that pick up the sound of people calling use. We follow it to our next 'mission' as we call them. Our missions are to find the dream mate for our 'mission' and help set them up together-"
"So basically you're Cupid?" Isaac asked in sarcastic and annoyed tones. This must have been a joke, I mean really.. sandmen? This was a cruel joke and Spencer was just toying with him.
"Not cupid. We use dust to get the job done. As well as beam machines, but you don't seem to believe me anyway."
"Well how can you prove to me all this is true?" Isaac challenged. Spencer's gaze darkened for a moment before brightening again quickly. Spencer smiled impishly.
"Hide. Anywhere in the city, because that's my machine's range. Hide anywhere you want and then call me and-I PROMISE-I will find you." Spencer smiled. Isaac then asked how to call him and Spencer explained in depth before ending the conversation with,
"Alright. I'll find you in one day. Starting.... Now," At Isaac's shock he continued, "I'll give you two hours head start." As he said this Isaac ran out the door, hurriedly putting on his shoes. As the door slammed and quiet ensued Spencer smiled to himself and laughed to the empty house.
"Oh this'll be SO MUCH FUN!!!"
