Lila dragged her self across the carpet towards her bed. How could answering the door be so hard? She cried out as her foot hit a bump on the floor. She curled up for a few moments. Her phone rang interrupting her pain, carefully she got her phone out of her pocket. She looked at the number that read 'doctor'. She answered the phone quickly.
"Hello." She said softly attempting to sound okay.
"Hello ma'am. I'm calling to confirm your 2 o'clock appointment with Dr. Yangkei."
"Yeah, I'll be there." she said with a sigh relaxing into the floor. Hopefully they'd give her some serious medication for this pain. The throbbing had lessened with the medication she had taken earlier in the morning. She had felt better for an hour or so before the pain came back and it felt so much worse. She said good bye to the receptionist who had called and thought to herself, "How am I possibly going to get there?"
Spencer was playing with the television flipping through the channels when he heard the phone ringing. He didn't bother to check it at first, because he wanted to give Isaac more time. Then again if Isaac was confident enough in only three hours he must be cocky. Spencer sighed and checked his phone only to figure out it wasn't his that was ringing. Confused he got up and used his enhanced hearing to track down Isaac's cell phone which was buried deep in the bed covers for some reason. He answered the unnamed number and when a soft voice came through he felt himself freeze in shock.
"Hey... uhm Isaac right?" Lila's voice came through the phone. Spencer smiled feeling oddly joyful.
"Actually, its Spencer here, Isaac went out for a bit and won't be back for a while. Do you need something?"
"Yeah, can you do me a huge favor? You know how my foot is like broken and all? Yeah, I'm supposed to go to the doctor today, but I just realized I didn't arrange for a ride. We can take my car I just need someone to drive, pick me up, and stuff, because it hurts too much to walk."
"Of course. When do you need to go?" Spencer responded dutifully.
"2 o'clock." Spencer looked at the clock, it was already 1:30.
"Should we leave now to get there a little early? It might take a while to get you in and out of the car."
"Oh...uhm...yeah...sure." Lila responded looking down at her messy clothes from yesterday. She couldn't even shower in this state. Then again, the neighbors had already seen her when she answered the door. She groaned internally at herself, 'You need to get dressed to be presentable' she told herself.
"Okay. Sounds great see you in a few." He said before ending the call letting her say good bye before he did so. He was already standing at her front door, invisible of course. He'd appear after the sounds of her getting ready quieted.
Lila wrestled with the clothing to get dressed whilst on the floor. She didn't bother trying to put on any shoes, but she put on black socks to at least keep her toes warm. She changed her shirt easily, but she struggled into a pair of boot cut jeans so as not to agitate her ankle as much. When she was finished she found a random stick of deodorant and used it. She almost tried to get up to go down stairs when a bang sounded on the front door.
"Its open!" She shouted down. She heard the click of the door opening and the soft steps of someone coming upstairs. She smiled as his tan face and golden eyes came into view.
"Ready?" He asked her with a small smile on his face. She nodded and suddenly she was in his arms being carried princess style. He carried her effortlessly, his strong arms around her never quivered as if he was expending not even a sliver of his limitless energy. She looked away as her thoughts steered down paths she didn't want them to.
'I feel like a princess being carried by my prince to safety. Such a silly dream that is!' she told herself trying to quiet the thoughts that had surfaced in her mind.
