Instead of rushing to gather Roxas and Albel from college, Orion decided to instead wait for them at home base. His own morning was rather exhausting and there was still a few things for him to let further sink in.
His parents, they went along and had another child. Judging by the coloring of the blanket holding the precious cargo, it was a baby girl. It had barely been a year since he had passed away. This would have meant she was born fairly recently.
A sibling. A piece of family he never had yet dreamed for so long. Someone he could dot on, spoil. Give the things he was never given otherwise.
Settling down on Roxas’ bed, Orion laid on his side, placing the wallet down beside him. He poked at it a couple times, giving it a few gentle spins as his mind wandered.
A small part of him was jealous of his newborn sister. Perhaps, she would be given all the love and affection he hadn't. His parents might figure out along the way what it truly meant to raise a child and turn things around for the better. He should be happy if that would happen, right?
Taking hold of the only memento of his mother, Orion held it close to his chest, allowing whatever strange pull that let ghosts sleep wash over himself.
The minute Roxas entered his own room, something immediately felt off. At first he was unsure of what it was. Looking over his space, he noticed the purple object atop his bed, and nothing else accompanied it.
Had Orion left it there? No, he would never leave something behind without an explanation and a smile.
"Orion?" No response was given back, leaving him anxious for the next minute.
“Who-What? WHAT YEAR IS IT?!” As if out of thin air, the ghost poofed back into existence, screaming what he only meant to be a partial joke. For some unknown reason, he had felt more exhausted than normal. Goodness, that was a feeling he hadn’t felt in quite some time.
But why would a ghost feel fatigue?
Shaking off his initial confusion, Orion perked up as Albel entered the room. He reached back for the wallet, zoomed over to the two, and shoved the object right into Albel’s nose. “Take it! Look! Roxas, tell him to look!”
Roxas, still shaken up by what he had witnessed, flinched at the desperate command. “Ah, right. Albel. He wants you to look in the wallet...Wait a second, who did you even steal this from?”
Orion nervously scratched at his cheek. “My mom. But I promise to give it back! But look how much!” A couple more enthusiastic shoves were given.
Albel snatched it, opened up the leather object, gasping as he counted each of the bills. “This is-This is exactly how much I need. With this, the old man will leave Lyx alone until I can send him more. You’re a lifesaver!” He attempted to embrace the ghost, missing him by a foot. Giggling in turn, Orion scooted himself over, returning the action.
“Anything for you.”
Again, Roxas felt anxiety stir deep within. He could visibly see the transparent being flicker. Like a dying candle light. What he saw before wasn’t his eye playing tricks on him.
Like his own time, Orion’s was slowly fading away.
