It’s nighttime and Christian can’t sleep, again. Lately it’s been that way, where he’ll try to sleep but can’t. The insomnia is getting to him. He’s jittery and bites his nails all the way.
“You’re worthless.”
“What?” Asks Christian. Who said that?
“You’re worthless. Why are you even alive? You can’t even fall asleep.”
Christian can’t determine if the voice is coming from outside or inside the room.
“Who are you?” Asks Christian, “What do you want?” He’s scared.
“Just kill yourself already!”
Christian realizes that the voice sounds like Steve. “Steve?” He looks over, but Steve is fast asleep. Is he going crazy?
“Leave the boy alone already, look, he’s scared!” A different voice. This time, one Christian recognized with all his heart. The voice of his mother.
“I agree, he should kill himself.” Another voice. “Kill yourself.” Yet another. Christian didn’t know what to do, was he going crazy? The voices were now arguing between themselves, about whether Christian should kill himself or not.
“Please stop.” Christian grabbed his head and started crying. He didn’t know what else to do.
