Who went after the other first will remain a mystery. And that soup? Well let’s just say the floor has seen worse.
I held his face in my hand, planning on taking the coffee for a while longer, but forgot all about it when he in return wrapped his arms around my neck.
The kisses were gentle and unsure, until Hayden made the point that he wanted everything I could provide. I was happy to deliver.
His dots shone in excitement, vivid like the colors on a bird. I know this because his shirt was gone in a matter of seconds and tossed like a useless thing I rather not have him wearing at the moment.
His skin was so smooth, only altered if my fingers brushed the patches of freckling dots as I explored.
I nibbled on his skin as I carried him away to a place better suited for this kind of activity, hearing him make an encouraging sound.
I dropped him on the sofa, continuing on where we left off with his pants already halfway off and my clothes disarrayed.
He pulled off my clothes, racing his own hands along my bare skin as he kissed where he could reach.
Hayden:
I looked up at him, sharing eye contact as his hands brushed my thighs to finish the job of undressing me.
His shirt was already gone from existence, but I felt like I was failing because his pants were still well on.
So I worked on that as I laid there exposed and at his convenience. Our kisses become more passionate and I shivered at his touch that traced up my thighs and along my navel.
He was strong against me, able to hold me tight and protected.
If this wasn’t trust…
“Relax,” He murmured next to my ear.
Kohl:
The couch couldn’t fit us in the end. So we slept on the floor with a blanket, very naked and very satisfied.
Hayden was out next to me, on his back and his face turned away when I woke up.
I watched him sleep, wondering if things will be even weirder between us. Maybe we'll pretend this strip frenzy never happened, shake hands and disappear from each other's lives once we're rescued.
I tucked an arm under my head, closing my eyes again for some more sleep when a sound from the captain's quarters we left open caught my attention. A steady beeping. I glanced over, seeing a green blinking light on the control panel.
Hayden felt me move out of our heap, stirring and sitting up to rub his eyes. His hair was a mess, pulling it off with perfection.
"Good morning," I say, dressing and tossing him some underclothes.
He looked up at me, his voice hoarse. That's probably my fault. "We got a message?”
“If the green light means that then yes.” I turned away to give him some privacy. I hear him toss the blanket off of him and dressing. “Should we talk about what just happened?”
“No,” Hayden walked passed me to the Captain’s quarters, not bothering to check if I was following.
“I mean, if--” I stopped there when, on the screen, showed something approaching in the form of a flashing dot, faster than the green one on the panel. It wasn’t rock, since it was bigger and had a direct direction to where we were. A name flashed across in letters that reminded me of something runic in fantasy novels. I looked over at Hayden for translation.
“Captain Sylv,” he says, “kind of piratey, don’t ya think?”
“What? No, no, that can’t be right.”
“I read it all over your face.” Hayden looked a little panicked. “Did we just broadcast to pirates?”
“I mean, charity is always an option. They see that this ship is in distress and came to...what’s it saying now?”
Hayden read the new letters, “Answer or die.”
“Not very subtle, are they?”
“Kohl.”
“Alright, alright,” I wasn’t prepared to be in such company. No one really was with space pirates. “Anyway to ghost a threatening pirate?”
Hayden was dead serious, “For proper effectiveness, you must form some sort of relationship first.”
I blinked at him. “Of all things your mind could’ve plucked out, brutality in the texting world was number one priority?”
He shrugged innocently. He’s such a doll.
The call continued until I got the nerve to answer it. Static replaced the name like some old t.v from two hundred years ago. A grizzle looking man of Hayden’s origins came into focus with a less than friendly expression, something a bloodthirsty pirate would practice in a mirror all day. Battle scars from galactic warfare covered his face. Red dots matched his murderous eyes, and a beard that seemed to go on for miles had seen better days, giving us a full view of it as he sat back to view who he targeted.
We weren’t that impressive in our bed clothes and hair to match.
“Uh, hi…” I say after some uncomfortable silence, “I’m Kohl-”
“I don’t care,” The Captain said flatly, “I’m Captain Sylv, in charge of this ship and will seize yours in due time.”
“We found it first?” Hayden’s words came out more like a question. The Captain took note of him and scowled that might just be permanently fixed on.
“Funny,” he didn’t sound a bit amused, “My bad. That’s how space piracy works, huh? We just f*ck off to the nearest star once someone calls dibs on it? Sorry, sweetheart, it doesn’t.”
What a rude pirate. “What do you want with a ruin one anyway?”
"It's not your business to inquire about."
"Well, it is our ship," I say, "shouldn't we have a say to what's going on?"
"And I'm the Captain, so no. Surrender or die. That is what you decide." He clicked away from the call, leaving the screen blank and dead.
