After spending a cold night in the drafty cave without a proper nest, Raven set about making one on her ledge. Flying off into the early morning sun, she left the vigilant Wolf who had not moved from his post all night. Picking up several suitable twigs, she returned to the cave and placed them carefully on her ledge. Wolf curiously barked at her and Raven eyed him, before dismissing him entirely.
Flying out back into the trees, she collected more twigs and brought them back, making a sturdy nest on her ledge. Nodding in satisfaction to herself, Raven flew out once more to find several soft ferns to line her nest. Returning, she found her nest not where she left it.
Wolf was still at his spot, carefully prodding the nest which now resided on the ground in front of him. Raven squawked indignantly and dropped her ferns. Wolf looked up shamelessly from his prodding and gave her a soft woof before turning back to her nest. A tense moment passed for Raven as she pondered how to retrieve her nest or if it would be easier to make a new one, but it became a non-issue. Wolf stood from his position and left the cave.
Raven carefully retrieved her nest and reestablished it on her perch but quickly realized it should have been impossible for the large lupine creature to reach her nest. The few handholds on the wall might permit a human to reach it but a wolf? It was quite impossible. A dragging noise alerted Raven.
Wolf broke through the wall of water, dragging a large tree trunk in his teeth. Under Raven's eyes, he pulled it to the far end of the cave and began biting into the wood, turning it into smaller parts. He began to drag these smaller chunks around and made a parody of her own nest on the ground. Wolf happily sat down in his creation and looked up at her.
Perhaps they were more alike than she thought, Raven thought to herself. Wolf began to roll around on his nest. Then again, probably not.
