Chapter 9

“Jade! Is that you!?” Jade recognized his guild leaders voice and gave a slight nod, eyeing the man.

Jesus he was tall.

The man towered completely over Jade seeming to be well over 6 feet……………….

Jade wasn't exactly short he was around 5’ 6” but the man was easily close to 7 ft. if not more.

Several other people came and swarmed around him, following the guild leaders example.

“Dude whats with the glasses!” He recognized Narvirk, his main tank for raid.

“Oh wow why do you have a voice changer on Jade?” Jules the ranged hunter who often was top for damage in the raid other than Ranydom.

Jade felt slightly crowded as people he had never seen until now bombarded him with questions.

“....Uhmmm…. I have a sensitivity to light….and the voice changer was for fun…?” He said in a deeper tone because of the mask.

A few of his guildmates look at him in amusement while a few others shook their heads laughing.

“Well then come on we need to get your gear checked out by the officials before you can participate!” Ranydom huffed out and dragged him.

“Uh? My gear?” Jade sputtered out as he was dragged and Ryuu who was invisible by his side silently kept up with him, weaving through all the people, trying to stay unnoticed.

“”Your computer? Mouse? They have to be approved by the people who run the organization, just incase people try to cheat, or if they dont think its up to date enough they will offer you better gear if you want.”

Jade blinked and then nodded.

He pulled his bag off the invisible Ryuu and several people gasped.

“I didn't know you could use spacial magic Jade! That's pretty impressive!”

“Wow….fucking cool.”

“Aw come on!!!”

“No fair Jade! If you could do that you should have brought us some food!”

Jade snorted at the last statement and pulled a different bag off of Ryuu’s back. He dug around in it until he found some jerky and tossed it to Kace, the melee sword wielder ingame who often was complaining how hungry he was in the middle of raid, much to everyone's annoyance.

He caught it eagerly but frowned at it.

“Just jerky?”

Jade nodded.

“THIS IS BULLSHIT!” He huffed but began to devour the food anyways.

Jade was nearly about to burst out laughing but he was dragged out of the room, while holding his computer case towards where he assumed his laptop would be judged.

Two men were sitting near a stage in a large stadium, messing around on laptops of their own when they looked up at their sudden arrival.

“Hey guys this is Jade, one of our best healers we need to get his gear checked out before the competition.” Ranydom said as he pushed Jade forward.

The men took his case and looked at in confusion but opened it up.

They started up his laptop and just stared at in confusion as they poked at it.

“.....You play on a laptop?” One of the men asked.

Jade nodded.

“.....And THIS model?”

Jade nodded again.

“I'm surprised it's never crashed in the middle of the game….” The other man whispered softly.

Jade winced and tried to not feel offended.

He had worked for months putting pieces together into an old model to get what he considered his baby (next to Ryuu) that was currently being insulted while in the man's hands.

He frowned at the man and glared at him, he was only slightly happy that his mask and glasses hid his face.

The man ran a few tests and looked in utter confusion at the computer.

“....It's got so much power though?!”

Jade smirked slightly.

“I took an old model and revamped it, it's not the same kind of computer as the model says it is.”

The man shook his head.

“We can't exactly accept that then, its gotta be a known model or you have to use our gear.”

Jades face fell, even though you couldn't see it.

“...Ok….then could you let me use your gear? And give me time to learn how to use it properly?”

The men nodded and lead him up to the stage where they began to set up the computer.

He frowned as he watched them move and place everything.

He watched them build a monster but all he could feel was his horror beginning to grow.

Ryuu’s already enough of a beast for me now I gotta learn to control this??!!! Jade thought.
