"We're going to split into pairs and hunt that alien down," Eli says as his eyes flick to each of the assembled crew members. "So choose your partners and head in different directions," Eli says. "You and me?" Ranger asks Jaxxen. "Yep," Jaxxen says. "Let's go," Ranger says as he opens the door. "Okay," Jaxxen says as he walks out of the room and takes his gun out. Ranger takes his gun out as well and follows Jaxxen down the hall. Jaxxen sighs as he puts his gun away and stuffs his hands in his pockets looking troubled. "Why did you put your gun away?" Ranger asks looking curious. "Because that alien isn't bad. I don't think it wants to hurt us." Jaxxen says. "I agree but what if it gets scared and attacks us?" Ranger asks looking uncertain as he holsters his gun as well. "Wait... look," Jaxxen says as he points to a puddle of silvery liquid. "It's mercury," Ranger says after a moment of examining it. "Mercury?" Jaxxen asks. "Yeah and there's a trail," Ranger says. "Let's follow it then," Jaxxen says. "Right. Follow me." Ranger says as he starts walking. "Coming!" Jaxxen says as he falls behind Ranger. "Why do you think there's mercury?" Jaxxen asks. "I don't know the exact reason but I have a feeling our alien was responsible is somehow," Ranger says sounding distracted. "Stop," Ranger says as he stops and catches Jaxxen by the arm. "What?" Jaxxen asks looking worried. "Look," Ranger says as he points down the hall at the alien. The alien's tail was wrapped around its body making it look like it was comforting itself as it held its ankle tightly. "The mercury is its blood..." Jaxxen says looking shocked. "Then we have to help it," Ranger says as he slowly approaches the alien. The alien looks up and flinches back as it sees them. Jaxxen kneels beside the alien and begins examining it as Ranger checks on its ankle. "Don't worry. We're not going to hurt you." Jaxxen says as he hears the alien let out a whimper. "This is deep," Ranger says sounding to troubled. "Can you help it?" Jaxxen asks. "Yes, but we need to get to my lab before I can treat it," Ranger says. "Okay, can you walk?" Jaxxen asks the alien. The alien hugs himself tighter and shakes his head quickly. "Alright come here," Jaxxen says as he gently picks the alien up into his arms. The alien's tail wraps around Jaxxen's waist tightly. "Alright. Let's go..."

At the lab...

"All patched up," Ranger says. "That's good," Jaxxen says. "It seems to like you," Ranger says as he watches the alien move behind Jaxxen. "He," Jaxxen says quickly. "What?" Ranger asks looking confused. "I-I don't know... I just feel it." Jaxxen says. Before Ranger can respond blaring sirens start. The intercom buzzes to life once more "All staff please report to the escape pods." the female's voice says sounding a little frantic. "Come on!" Ranger says as he jumps to his feet and opens the door. "Come here," Jaxxen says to the alien as he helps him stand.

In the escape pod...

A jolt pushes Jaxxen, Ranger, and the alien together as the escape pod disconnects from the ship. "I hope the others make it..." Jaxxen says as he sits down and pets the alien's ears making him purr. "Me too," Ranger says nervously. "What happened to the ship?" Jaxxen asks. "I don't know..." Ranger mutters. "They destroyed it..." a light melodic male's voice says. "You can talk?" Jaxxen asks as he looks at the alien is surprise. The alien nods his pink eyes sparkling like gems. "What?" Ranger asks. "He just said something," Jaxxen says. "No, he didn't. He's just been sitting there watching you." Ranger says. The escape pod jolts again before Jaxxen can respond. The door opens and the group peeks out uncertainly. "Where are we...?"
