The next day, Jason ordered all of the parts for a new satellite network system that he had an idea for, rockets to get it into orbit, the mall network infrastructure, and new robots. A week later and he had the network set up and the satellite ready to launch.
"I don't think I like being a robot actually." Jessica told him after he ate lunch.
He frowned. "Oh, do you miss eating? Sorry."
She shook her head. "No, that's fine. I just feel weird in this robot, like it's squishing my head and giving me a headache or something.
Jason stood up and started running to the room he had made as his future networking room. "I have an idea!"
He got in and started typing on a laptop that he had connected to a mess of wires and was on top of machines that he used to make circuit boards and computer parts. Jessica walked in after him.
"What's your idea?" She asked.
He pulled out a small card that looked almost like an SD card or a flash drive. He plugged it into a device that he had plugged in to the laptop and did some more typing. Then he pulled it out.
"Okay, I am going to put this in a spot behind your ear and you will go onto that and then I can put you into a new body. How does that sound?" He explained.
"Okay!" She stood still while he plugged the card in and then pulled it out and caught the robot from falling. He plugged her into the laptop. He didn't know how she had translated herself into data, but now he had her data. He left her there for a little while so that he could launch his satellite system. It was tricky to get into orbit, but he had programmed the stages to land themselves safely and then the final payload was in orbit with a single rocket. He released some and then used the rocket to release them slowly and spread them out. Each one had a bit of fuel and tiny thrusters so that it could fine-tune it's positioning.
The satellite system was a series of small satellites that he made. They each could receive and transmit data at very fast speeds, and each one could be used for different things. A few connected to the satellite network and then connected down to the satellite dish on the roof of the mall, others did calculations or generated energy.
Once he was connected, he could connect to the internet with ridiculously fast speeds. Then he released Jessica onto the internet. She could go wherever she wanted and do anything. After that he focused on made a robot out of a donated cadaver. He made the body into a bit of a cyborg with an internet connection behind the ear and then sent a ping to Jessica, wherever she was on the internet, that this body was hers to live in now. She could still explore on the internet and all over the world, but now she could live again too.
"Thank you." Jessica said to him with a hug.
Jason continued to work on his laboratory that he was making out of the old mall, releasing all of his discoveries to the public for free. Jessica came to visit often. She loved to watch the rockets launch and play with the robots. Jason took care of her until he grew old and frail, but then Jason uploaded his own mind into data, just like he had helped her to do.
Some say that the Constellation Mall is haunted. The smart people know that it's really just Jason working as his lab.
