Raven stared at Wolf, and a curious thought wandered through her mind. So much so that the pause in their conversation alerted Wolf of something amiss.
“I wonder what it is that makes you ponder so?” He asked Raven. She only smiled.
“I have a friend, rather dog-like, and I am wondering what would happen should the two of you meet. A pissing contest, no doubt.”
“Sounds like a dog indeed.”
“Should I throw you a bone?”
“You have a quick tongue for one so small. Where do you hail from, Raven?”
“Oh, from a land across the sea to the east. It was quite the journey.” And it was. Raven would fly across the endless blue sea until her wings could no longer bear her aloft. When her strength failed her, she would allow herself to plummet to the water, sinking into its cold depths. Drowning was unpleasant, so she quickly learned to sleep while afloat. It was still a very tiring journey.
“What forces you so far from home?”
“What makes you think I was forced?” Came Raven's sharp reply. Wolf merely grinned.
“Because no one abandons their home in such a manner unless they were no longer welcome.”
Raven grumbled at Wolf's astute observation and paused to think of how her animal form was discovered. It was a bitter memory.
