I wake to the sound of a ringing alarm clock. My hand reaches to stop it, but slips and pushes it off the bed stand, effectively breaking it. I groan and wipe my eyes. The world seems to slip from my grasp as I look at the tan colored ceiling. I can feel the cool air from outside on my bare torso. I left the window open.
Walking out the bedroom door after getting a shirt, I look at the time on the microwave. 6:13. Early, I guess, because classes start at 8:00.
Last night's events come back to me in a flurry. I grab a microwave breakfast, peel off the cover and push it in the microwave, since I have no cooking skills whatsoever. As the microwave heats my meal, I walk into my room and close the door, lock it. The door to my closet is open. I must have left it like that last night.
Walking toward the crack in the wall, I teleport the files into my hand. I open them and start to read. The words flash through my head. Project Augeretis. Augmented. Multiple Abilities. I turn the pages to notice one page is missing. The next page shows photos and names of the children put through the process. My eyes fly through the names and photos down to the last one. Colin Eastern. Next to it is, Tyler Neverth. No. that can't be right. No one else survived after the project was closed. They were all killed. Stabbed.
He couldn't know about his abilities could he? Only one idea sticks in my mind. He's Lightwing. Lightwing is another survivor, as he also has multiple abilities. We're the only ones. We're supposed to be the only ones.
No. He can't be, couldn't be. I push the thought from my mind as I read on to the next page, or the last page.
The end says, They were the only ones. It can't happen again, won't happen again.
I've seen this many times. From the little I've found, whatever we had would only happen once, unless we passed our abilities on, which would probably be impossible for us because we have multiple. We're the only ones and only will ever be the only ones.

When I walk outside to the living room, I see Tyler lounging lazily on the couch, his black hair glinting in the light from the lamp. I walk over to see the breakfast in his hand and then over to pick up mine from the counter. He's watching TV.
"Another attack," Tyler says.
"Not much of an attack, is it?" I ask, "I mean, they just broke inside the building to take some files."
"I don't understand. What's wrong with Nightfox? Why does he have to do this to the heroes?"
"He probably has a reason," I say, putting my hand on his leg, "Everyone has reasons," Tyler gives me a small smile and looks back at the TV. Lightwing is pictured on the TV, his white wings creating glare. I push playfully on Tyler's shoulder.
"What? Got a crush on him?" I joke, but see his teeth clenched in pain, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," He says, "I just slipped and hit my shoulder on the counter last night, " He smiles and pulls his shirt sleeve up to massage the injury.
His words go on, but I notice one thing. Where the injury is, is where Nightfox stabbed Lightwing last night.

Walking to my class, I notice a small poster at the main university building. If you have abilities, tell us! We'll help you!, it reads.
I almost laugh. You're required to tell the government if you have abilities and they'll rank you on how powerful and dangerous you are. It's on a 0-10 scale. well, really 1-10, as 0 is for a regular human with no powers or abilities in the slightest. If you get a seven or higher, you're obligated to start training and be watched for any signs of danger or instability.
I'm guessing Lightwing and Nightfox are above the 10, somewhere around a 20, maybe. Actually, probably higher, seeing as each power's number would be added together to get their power levels.
Thinking about it makes me realize something. All of their abilities' are the same numbers except for Nightfox's umbrakinesis, or shadow control, and Lightwing's photokinesis, or light control. umbrakinesis is ranked a 10, and photokinesis, a 9.
Nightfox is more powerful than Lightwing.
That's enough of a thought to carry me through the day.
