So this one shot sort of continues after the last one. Buuuuuuut, New people. So...yeah. Everyone else ditched to some other group. Well except the dragonborn, he countied come.
So the oneshot starts off with me, as Dr. Scarab, retelling what happened last time, exaggerated version, to the tavern. Drinking away, then in comes two ‘new’ people, Yaaaay. One was a lv 1 High Elf Wizard, COUGH! Witch, Shadow (Yeah, real original) and a lv 3 half-orc barbarian ‘King’ Dok. So the DM, Mr. Dawsari, prompted us to roll 1d6 to see what we would do. Rose, who was Shadow, rolled and got a quest. I got 6, I got to choose whatever. The quest was to find and investigate the outsides of the village, so homesteads in the area. We practically all agreed that it was interesting and we took it.
Some time later, the next day (afternoon I believe), we came to one of the first homesteads. The DM narrates that there was no living things in the area other than ourselves; and I mean, No One. Nothing.
I asked the DM how close to Hallows Eve was. He said about a week. Just to let you know, it was around Octoberish in the world. So all those crops were close to being ready to harvest around us.
I thought the disapeaces had something to do with spirits, since Hallows Eve was near. Then me and Rose got into a conversation, role playing of course, about spirits and the spirit realm. Max, as Dok, went to the homesteads door and knocked, being an idiot he was slammed on the door. And as the DM narrated, it let out a load, audible, sound that echoed across the area. But no birds were started, since there was none.
Both me and Rose groaned. The DM narrated that the door swung open slightly. Max, with a ‘genius’ idea, closed the door and then kicked it down. Again we groaned.
I ended up heading to the house and followed Max inside. The homestead was a one room building. There was a stone hearth, double beds, and a small table set with rotting food.
I first rolled to see if there was anything magical in the home to see if they disappear magically. I got no response from trying to detect. I decided to investigate the food that was on the plate to see how old the food was. The DM said that the food were a couple of days old, been barely touch. Max decided to scout the area, while me and Rose were looking around inside, and try to find anything relating to the disappearances. He climbed up on top of the roof to get a better look at the area and discovered that there tracks of mud on the ground near the house that might be from the animal. The DM narrates the the roof caved slightly wherever Max stepped. I avoided those areas.
Max, seeing something, called us and told us about tracks he seen tracks. They were animal tracks, a couple of horses and pigs, and they were in a straight line towards the nearby forest. We, as a group, decided to follow the tracks into the forest and try to find the animals. Max took the lead, along the way, he got large obstacles like boulders and trees out of the way as Rose surveyed the area for any sign of life and I followed the tracks.
As we follow the tracks, I notice that there are human footprints there too. I suggested the idea of bandits again as a maybe. Once I, in the lead, slightly went off course with a bad roll. However, Rose pointed the group back in the direction of the tracks, when we reached the end of the tracks, we were in an overgrown, abandoned quarry.
