When love is not madness, it is not love. ~ Pedro Calderon de la Barca
Finally, it was Saturday . A day that was beginning of something beautiful and so intimate to his heart. He woke up feeling fresh and excited like a little child. The youthful look and the joy on his face were basically rolling off him in waves. He had quickly climbed inside the shower and let the cold water surround him, not caring one bit about adjusting to a much more suitable temperature. Maybe that is common when you are really looking forward to something exciting or waiting to see someone you had waited to see for a long time? The moment of the wait was purely torturous and these are the times when our soul nags at us to just fly to the places, see the people we are longing to see. It was the only day of the week when he picked out his own clothes.
He had stood in front of the huge walk-in closet that was not just enormous in size also equally luxurious. Most of the things in the wardrobe were custom made and exclusive. He had every kind of cloth ranging from different brands to different colors to different materials. His clothes were trendy but there were many that were folk costumes that had cost him a fortune. He wanted to wear something simple that made him look simple and sweet and not expensive. Today was not the day to make an impression. He could be himself today and not care about who he was.
He settled for black jeans, a white and black striped cotton shirt, and a neck muffler since the weather was bad today. He had to look for his windbreaker long coat that was beige color. This was one of the coat's that she gifted him on his birthday. Although he had very few memories of hers with him this was something that stayed with him. He wore his black and white boots and then drove to the place. It was the only day when he traveled without his driver and men. This was part of his life that he was hiding for 7 years. No one was aware of this aspect of his life and he knew he couldn't let anyone know about it otherwise it was him disclosing his weakest spot and risking someone he had protected all those years.
His mind wandered back to the memories that terrified a fearless man like him. He didn't fear for him but for the secret to coming out. His rivals could go to any extent to use this as an opportunity to hurt him.
It took him approximately 2 Hours to reach here. The place was replaced by a deserted area with not a single soul and man-made wonders in sight. The place was untouched and unexplored by humans maybe that what helped him in hiding his secret so easily. No one beside him and few people he allowed came here. He could see the baronial building in the background covered by large trees and wooden fences just like old times that were painted white. A brick pathway led to the entrance of the building. He parked his car in the huge parking lot that was filled with cars of the people who worked in that building. He went to the huge American doors that were painted white and had glass panels on them. He knocked on one of the doors and after three knocks elderly women swing the door open.
" Aaron? " She spoke in a loving and kind manner.
"Hello, Mrs. Wesley."He smiled at the old women with his dimples clearly on display.
"Nonsense just Call me Sarah."She had lightly patted his arm while laughing.
" You told me that last time too-" He had laughed along. He loved teasing her every time he came here.
"You must be here to see her- Come I will take you to her . I know she waits for you every time just as eagerly as you are " She had guided him to the inside of the house. This part of the house was the main hall. There was a spiral staircase that leads to the second floor. He started running up the stairs. When he heard Mrs. Wesley warning to slow down and not run up the stairs. It was something he was used to hearing by now but this was something he did every time.
"Kids these days-" She had mustered to herself and smiled. She knew how eager he was to get there and see her in person , the eagerness to have her close was a feeling she was well acquitted to . There were many doors and many rooms but he knew her room by heart. He knocked on the door and then opened the door after him slowly.
"Hey, Aaron." The doctor on duty had turned to greet him with open arms and a broad smile like often when he entered the room. By now how often he came here even Oliver was fully aware and expected him on every Saturdays.
"How is she doing?"He eyed the women laying on the bed.
"She is doing well." He handed him her full report to read. After that, the doctor left the room like he always did in Aaron's presence. He wasn't the only doctor that took care of Sophie there was a team of doctors and nurses that were there to take care of her.
"Hey, Sweetheart." He whispered in her ear when he sat next to her. How he wished she was there to reply back with that sweet, angelic voice of hers. He wanted to tell her so many things. He wanted to share with her so many things he was feeling today.
He looked around her room trying to suppress his rising sentiments. The room was beautifully appointed and the same room was like the room that she always wanted and they decorated for her. From her large window, he could see the rolling waves and the sand. He could clearly hear the cries of seagulls and the sound of the ocean. The building was beachfront and from her window, they could view the beach like she always wanted. He knew if she was there with him in person she would have loved this place. They planned to get married and then move into a house that was this close to the beach. But they never got that chance. He held her small hand in his and admired how her hand fit perfectly in his.
