It was eight in the morning and there was a knock on the front door. Jayviet and Vege was asleep on the futon, tried from yesterday. But Vege woke up with his eyes closed and walked toward the door, “We’re still tried and it’s too early.” Vege yawn and opened the door thinking hat he’s still back at Jayviet’s home.
Just then Jayviet come to her sense and her eyes wide opened, “Vege! No!”
But it was too late, the front door has opened and there was someone standing outside.
“Oh,” a woman said in surprised.
“Ehh…,” Vege had his eyes fully opened.
“No!,” Jayviet climb out of her bed and walked toward the door.
“What an adorable creature! Where did you find it?” the woman asked happily.
“Well, last night as I was walking by I heard something hear the bushes. And I found this little bat who got injured so I saved him.” Jayviet told her made up story to the woman.
“You can keep it,” the woman agreed.
“What? Why?” Jayviet asked confused.
“I’ll tell you on the way. Now get dressed because it’s the first day of your school at the palace. It’s not good to be late you know.” The woman smiled as Jayveit and Vege looked at each other confused.
The kind woman guided Jayviet and Vege to the school ground in the palace. As they walked around the palace Jayviet could see Vivaland. On the other side of the hall walking toward her. There was a woman beside her as well, she was dressed the same the person who is guiding her.
As the two girls got closer the two greeted each other.
“Good morning Jayviet, What is that cute creature beside you?” Vaivaland asked.
“Oh hi, it’s a bat I rescued last night. It want to follow me around so I’m taking him with me,” Jayviet said as she looked at Vege who was smiling at Vivaland.
“He look so cute. Have you named him?” Vivaland asked curiously.
“Vege, because he likes vegetables,” said Jayviet already knowing everything about Vege since she grew up with him.
“Oh, that’s nice. Is good that all the students here must have a least one pet,” Vivaland smiled.
“Yeah, it sounds great to me but isn’t weird that it’s a rule here? Like every students must be with their pets at all times?” Jayviet said.
“I don’t know why it’s a rule here. But I like it since everyone will be having a pet that reflects their personalities,” Vivaland said.
Jayviet nods and asked, “what about you? What pet do you have in mind?”
“A cat,” Vivaland said.
As she said that Vege got closer to Jayviet and called her name worriedly.
“That’s not bad,” Jayviet smiled at Vege knowing that he’s not good with cats.
They stopped walking in front of a giant mental door. The two women swing opened the door together and both said, “Welcome to The Crowny Princess School.” Jayviet and Vivaland was amazed as they were inside. They both looked around the tall halls filled with what seems to be department stores. In the middle up high, there were golden bars that hold a big round clock.
As they were still in amusement there was a voice, “Hello, new students.”
Right in front of the two was a girl standing in with bright red curly hair warring a pair of glasses.
“Let me introduce you to myself. My name is Charm I’m here to guide you to your new class. I heard that we’re in the same class that’s why I’m here to take you there,” said Charm.
“That’s very nice of you,” Vivaland said.
“No problem! I’m here to tell you two about the palace for the whole day. Let’s be good friends!” said Charm.
“Cool,” Jayviet said as they all walked under the big clock bars they come to introduce each other.
There were all girls in the classroom, after all The Crowny Princess School is an all girl’s school with girls dorms. But the boys have their own class and dorms on the other side of the big walls in the garden. Their side is named The Crowny Prince School.
“Take your seats,” a hooded man said as he walked into the classroom.
“That’s one of the teacher. In the palace all men are suppose to ware hoods and not show their faces. But they can still see us even if we can’t because there is a magic barrier,” Charm whisper to Jayviet who was sitting next to each other.
“Why?” Vivaland asked Charm who sat behind her.
“I don’t know but it's a rule,” said Charm.
‘Sounds like a fishy idea,’ Jayviet told her self as she looked at Vege.
“Today is the final day of the new students coming into the palace. Which means there won’t be any more transfer students entering the palace through out the year. ” the teacher explained.
Some students turn around confused while the teacher continued his talk.
“Some of you may already know about this but some students just got to the palace a few days ago while some got here weeks ago. The King sent the royal invitations letters to many countries around the world a few months ago. But because some people live far away the letter sent from the palace reached its destination a bit late. Most of you will be changing to your own room today so be sure to rest well. I hope you all will enjoy your stay at the palace. But before that I’ll be giving out the quiz papers,” the hooded man said as the class complained.
“What, a quiz on the first day of school? I haven’t study anything yet!” Jayviet scratch her head.
“He,he,he,” Vege laughed quietly knowing the fact that Jayviet never studied once in her life yet.
“Oh, no,” said Vivaland worried.
“Don’t worry,” Charm said as she give Vivaland’s shoulder a pat.
“Class don’t complain please. Because this quiz will be questioning about your life and who you are,” the hooded teacher finally said it to calm the class.
“See,” said Charm.
“Phew,” both Vivaland and Jayviet let out a sigh.
As the whole class read out the paper all the questions were too easy. In fact it doesn’t seems like a quiz you might be questioned in a royal palace.
‘Favorite color, Green,” Jayviet wrote down.
‘Hmm, why I might want to be a princess in five years?’ Vivaland read the question, thinking deeply.
‘Things that I’ll miss the most, as I’m here?’ Charm read the question, and write down her own answers.
After an hour later the hooded teacher collected the quiz papers.
“It is break time now and after that there won’t be any classes for today. Because it’s the first day of school. Everyone shall take a rest for today and take actions on what they need to do. Some may need new pets while others may need to fill their new room with things. End of class,” the hooded teacher left the class.
“Wow,” Jayviet said as she is quite impressed with her first day of school in her life.
“Jayviet and Charm,” Vivaland stood up and said, but someone came into the room as she does that.
“Class don't leave yet,” a woman dressed in a long green dress came in.
“Who’s the new students today?” she asked curiously.
“These two,” said Charm knowing about something.
Vivaland and Jayviet was the only two new students in the class. So they both assumed that the rest of the students arrived to the palace before them.
“Oh, others may leave now” the woman said. She walked toward the two girls and give them two wooden boxes. “Charm, please do explain it to them. I need to go now,” the woman in green dress left the class.
“How did she remember your name? I mean there must be like four hundred names to memorize,” Jayviet was surprised.
“Oh, I’m the leader of this class. Each class has one leader and the teachers here memorize their names. Then they instruct them to tell the other students.” Charm explain looking at the wooden box.
Vivaland opened the box and inside there was a small leather book and something that seems like a bookmark.
“Let me explain. The book includes all the rules about this place and how you should behave and what you should follow. And the bookmark is not a bookmark. It’s actually called The Card, and it is use for buying things in the department stores and the school cafeteria. The Card holds magic powers that stores The Points.” Charm stopped talking and clears her throat and continues.
“You will receive The Points based on the marks you get on your test scores and how well you behave in class. Right now for all students The Card holds 100.000 points. You can freely use it for the coming events like buying dresses for the party.” Charm finally explained everything.
“Cool!,” Jayviet said knowing how hard it was to make money back in her village.
“Now you don’t need to sell flowers or mushrooms,” Vege whispered to Jayviet.
“I’ll take you to the pet department!” Charm linked arms with Vivaland and off they went~
As they were walking in the hall way the three girls became the best of friends.
But suddenly Jayviet saw something familiar in the corner of her eyes. She stopped walking and rush to the window and was surprised to see it before her eyes.
“Oh, that’s” Charm stop and stand beside Jayviet.
“What are the teachers doing?” Vivaland asked curiously.
“It’s called magic. All the teachers here can use magic. Some of them are practicing over there,” Charm said pointing over.
“Coo-,” before Jayviet could finish her words Charm continue her talk.
“But of course students are forbidden to use magic. Those who can use magic will be misunderstood as witches, evil and demons.” Charm said in a funny way.
Jayviet was left like a sheet of paper as she was shocked. Vege stood there just flapping his wings and shook his head.
“But I have never heard of magic or seen anyone using it in my country,” Vivaland said confused.
“Me too. But don’t worry there won’t be any witches in this school. We’re safe!” Charm said as she return walking again.
Vivaland nod and went with Charm while Jayviet tried to hold her emotions inside her.
“We’re going to the pet department were we can choose an animal we like,” Cham said.
“Oh, should we pay for the animals?” Vivaland asked.
“No we don’t need to. The royal family has allow us to choose freely and to take care of it. Of course we do need to take full responsibility for the animals.” Said Charm.
As they were in the garden full of good animals they were happy to pat them one by one.
“What’s behind those big walls? Can we go there?” Jayviet asked Charm.
“It’s the school and dorms for the boys. We are not allow visit them even if they are our relatives,” Charm said looking up the walls that almost reach the sky.
“Oh well, I mean who cares about the boys anyways,” Jayviet shook her head.
‘But you have never seen a boy your age back in the village. Have you?’ Vege told her in his mind.
“Have you decided which animal you want Vivaland?” Charm asked.
“Yes, I want this cat and I’ll name her Luci! I’m surprise that even Vege is getting along with all the animals here. They don’t seems to be mean to him,” Vivaland said happily looking around at the animals.
‘Yea, because I’m in the air and not on the ground. They might attack me if I’m on the ground!’ Vege said in his mind looking at the animals.
“Okay then, I’ll take Luci for a while and show it to the office. Because they need to confirm and you’ll get some papers from them.” Charm holds Luci carefully.
“Do I need to come with you?” Vivaland asked.
“It’s alright! I can handle it!” as she said that Charm left.
“What do you think about magic Vivaland?” Jayviet asked.
‘I knew it! I knew that you would ask that question!’ Vege looked at Jayviet trying to mind contract.
“What is magic used for in the first place? How does it work? I’m sorry, I don’t know anything at all,” Vivaland said.
“Well, magic is actually really cool! You can order the broom to clean the living room. Or if you want the vase to move, you can just use magic to move it while sitting on the couch.” Jayviet explained enthusiastically.
‘Try not to explain more than this or she’ll suspect us!’ Vege warned her but she wasn’t able to hear him.
“Ohh, I understand now. That’s sounds very nice. But wait, how do you know so much about magic? Can you use magic!?” Vivaland said in a surprised.
“Ahahaha, I just read it in fantasy books. I thought magic is interesting so I keep a collection of them.” Jayviet happily lied.
“Jayviet and Vivaland everything is done! Let’s go to the pet accessory store!” Charm called out.
“Okay~” The two girls replied.
