when they leave

I get everything into the truck and start it realizing Alex fell asleep. I kiss his cheek and drive home him waking up in the middle of us getting there, he lays his head on my shoulder and then holds my hand since I'm one of those people who can drive one handed. I turn on the radio when we get to a red light. It's a soft melody he nuzzles in closer holding my hand like it's a precious jewel close to his chest. He falls asleep again this time sleeping the whole time when we get home, I grab him out of the passenger seat lifting him with ease and taking him into the house and laying him on the couch. Then i grab all of the bags and bring them in the house sorting them and putting them away. I hear Alex call out my name “what is it” i hear him sit up rubbing his eyes “can i have some water, please” I smile “sure” i walk over to the cupboard and get a glass, I fill it with cold water and then ice. I walk over to Alex and give it to him, he smiles and chugs it. “Slow down” i say. He sets down the glass and pats the spot next to him. I sit down and he crawls on top of me his knees beside my hips. He puts his head in the crook of my neck I kiss his forehead. “What's wrong” I say quietly rubbing his back. He sighs and kisses my neck slightly “it's nothing i'm just ...worried” it's muffled my eyes widen slightly “why” I ask pulling him away so i can see his face “I just... that guy he could have hurt you what if something could have really happened” he starts to cry, I pulled him close to me “I would do anything for you, and anyway he would have no chance” I hear him slightly giggle “don't you ever worry about me” I continue. He's still crying I rub his back and then pull him so he can hear my steady heart beat. He rubs his eyes and kisses me, i kiss back and then pull away “and don't ever think I don't love you” i say my hand cupping his cheek. “I love you too” I hear him say his hand moving to hold my hand that's on his cheek. I look over at the clock and sigh “it's only 4:26.” he giggles “well what do we want to do” i smirk “we could have sex” his eyes widen and his face turns a crimson red and he hides his face with his hands “hey it was just an idea” i say finding amusement in his embarrassment. “Well..it wasn't funny” I uncover his face and kiss his lips, I pull away. “Well do you have any ideas on what to do” i ask smiling “well we could watch a movie or something” he says looking away from my face “hey...you okay” i ask staring at his face.
