The Stories I Tell

Specialized (pt.5)

Specialized (pt.5)

Nov 07, 2019

I grabbed my suitcase once more and started following Lukas. I took in my surrounds as we walked down into the barracks. A few woven baskets were stacked in the far corner, along with a few bags of fruit. Along the other walls, there were piles of different sized boxes that had different symbols on them. There were six hammocks hanging from the ceiling, 3 of the little areas were decorated.

“That must be for Liliana’s crew,” I thought while looking around.

Lukas lead me to a free hammock and sat in the one across from it, “As promised, I’ll answer any questions you have; specifically about CG but I’m willing to answer any you have about me.”

I thought for a moment, sitting back in the hammock, allowing Lily to fall into the hammock as well, “I think… My main question is what is Crimson Guild?”

“Ah, good one,” Lukas said with a chuckle, “Crimson Guild is a group of people who have to ability to imagine things to life. Our motto is of the sea, the land, the sky, truth prevails. We stand to help people with this ability and spread the truth that it’s not an evil thing that people make it out to be. If need be, we will also rescue kids from abusive households, though that is rare. Some specially trained people will go and end bad people's lives. In that way, we could be called assassins. That being said, there is a specific set of rules that each agent must follow, but you will learn about those when you go through orientation. There are bases in every state, I work at the HQ of Crimson Guild.”

I hummed softly, “And now I’m going to be helping with that?”

“Well, if you pass the field agent entrance test. You can also be an agent that finds people like us, creates campaigns to help our cause, or you can also go and collect people that come of age. For the technical division, you would be assigned a field division agent. You would help them locate people like us and, on occasion, go with them to collect them person.”

“And what about you? You said you were born into Crimson Guild.”

“Right, my parents were inducted into it when they both turned 20. They met here, which is how I was born into it.”

“I feel like there’s something more there?”

“That’s a story for another day.”

“Alright, I won’t pry then. At least until tomorrow,” I said with a grin.

Lukas laughed softly and nodded, “Alright, any other questions?”

“Well, since I’m apparently even more special, what kinds of limitations do other people have?”

“There are limitations with altering your body, like tattoos, hair color, and eye color. Some can't hold up the appearance for a long time, but others can. For just creating things, that would depend on the person. The bigger the object is, the more energy they have to use to think it to life, which is why it was so astonishing when you created the robot spider when you were only 9. For some people, they can’t hold onto an object for extended amounts of time. For others they can maintain something for hours, if it’s small enough. The more solid the material, the harder it is to materialize too. “Which is why they were so interested in the crystal butterflies?”

“Yes. You did it with such ease.”

“I didn’t know it was supposed to be hard,” I said while sheepishly rubbing my head.

“Well, you learned something about yourself,” Lukas smiled.

“Another question, is there a ranking system?”

“I’m not sure about any of the other divisions, but there is a system for the field agents. Your rank can be between 1-500. The closer you are to rank 1 the higher you are in the ranking system. I’m rank 208, so I’d be higher than a rank 287. I think the technical division has the same ranking system, I’m not sure.”

“What is involved in orientation?”

“It’s a week where you follow someone from each division around and see what you like. Some have tests, like being a field agent, and others don’t, like being a tech agent.”

Liliana walked down into the barracks, and said from the stairs, “It’s gonna go a long fly, you two. Get some rest.”

“I didn’t even know we were moving…”

“I believe this ship has a counter balance in it so it doesn’t shake a whole lot,” Lukas turned to me and shrugged with a smile, “You heard the captain, get some rest.”

I nodded and moved to lay in the hammock, moving Lily around so I don’t lay on her wings, “Good night, Lukas.”

“Good night, Percy.”

This is just a place I can drop stories I've written and will write in the future. Most are different worlds but there are a few that are in the same world. There are also a few that have multiple parts. I hope you all enjoy a walk with me through fantasy and magic.
