“Anthony, why do I have to be stuck with you today?” I asked the editor with a sigh, “You’re always way too serious!” My head was already pounding from his constant nagging and criticisms, “Not to mention you’re not cute at all…”
“Hah…” The black-haired man gave me a glare as he gathered up my drafts, “You should really end it with that boy…” He shook his head as I gave him a quizzical stare, “You know exactly what I mean… It’s fine for him to be your caretaker but think about how it looks for you to be seen with a catboy. It wouldn’t be good for the press.”
“Whatever…” I huffed turning my face away from the man, “We’re not like anyways…” My heart sank as a pout rose to my face, “I don’t really care how it looks.”
“Well, you should care.” He put in pointedly as I put everything into his suitcase, “Your career and mine depend on it, so don’t get too reckless.”
“Right…” I mumbled to myself as I curled up pulling my knees to my chest, is it really that weird for me to like him?
. . .
“Oi, Onyx!” Starburst called with a shake, “What’re you doing sleeping down here? You know that you have a perfectly functioning bed, right?”
“Sorry, I surprised you, right?” I ran my fingers through my sleep tousled hair, “Anthony had me up early this evening and I guess I just fell asleep in the chair after he left.”
“Geez, that guy should really take your sleep schedule into account when he comes over to fetch your drafts or have meetings with you…” The ginger-haired cat shook his head as he handed me my partition of blood for that evening, “Do you have anything to work on tonight?”
“It’s not his fault you know most humans are awake during the day.” I yawned and stretched as I headed to the kitchen for a cup of coffee, “I have some deadlines coming up next week, but nothing especially draining this time around.”
“Well, we’ve both been working almost nonstop since the signing, so let’s take a break tonight.” He suggested padding quietly after me, “Is there anywhere you want to go?”
He’s just being nice… I sighed pulling a mug of coffee to my lips, this doesn’t mean anything to him, does it? “No…” I muttered staring into the warm fluid, “I don’t want to be out in a crowd.”
“I suppose not…” The cat chuckled taking some coffee for himself, “That wouldn’t be like you, hm? Let’s just take a break today.”
Does he even know the ideas he puts in my head? I clicked my tongue, “I guess that’s fine.” I smiled with a nod, “Okay, that’s what we’ll do!” I won’t do anything unnecessary; I promise...
. . .
“What do you like to watch, Star?” I asked as I logged into the streaming service as its logo appeared on the television screen, “I have the feeling that you probably wouldn’t like anything that I would normally watch…”
“I’m sure whatever you want to watch would be fine.” The cat replied easily as he relaxed in the chair opposite me, “I’m not picky and I don’t really have time to watch too much, so I don’t exactly know what I would like.”
“Okay…” I hummed uncertainly as I scrolled through titles, “Just tell me if I put something on that you really don’t like…”
“Of course.”
. . .
“What’re you talking about?” I huffed annoyed as I crossed my arms giving Starburst a glare, “It’s definitely Kyo! How could you pair her with that rat!”
“You’re the one that’s wrong!” The ginger-haired boy fumed baring his teeth at me, “Yuki is way sweeter!” He argued, “I know I’d much rather be with him!”
“I’d much rather if you’d be with me!” I winked earning a groan from my companion, “Yuki’s not even real…”
“Geez…” He sighed with a shake of his head, “I was just giving an example, idiot…”
Shit… What was I doing bringing that up again? “Sorry, I didn’t mean to say that…” I brought a hand to my face in a hopeless effort to hide how red my cheeks were, “I’ll just stop talking now.”
“Don’t go soft me…” The cat laughed lightly giving me a short stare, “If you feel what you think you do… Well, it would be better if you didn’t hide it, right? Just say whatever you want to say.”
He doesn’t seem concerned like Anthony was this morning… “Hey, Starburst…?” I fiddled with the bottom of my shirt as I gave him a wary glance, “Can… Can I ask you a personal question?” He gave me a look as though waiting for more, “Is it so wrong for someone to date a catboy?” I frowned feeling almost guilty for how much I liked the boy, “If it’s wrong for me to like someone like you… I’ll try to get over you and not be too much of a bother.”
“Anthony finally said something, hm?” He bit his lip as though debating over what the right thing to say was, “I didn’t realize that guy was so behind the times…” The cat gave a groan as he came to stand in front of me, “It’s just that catboys used to be seen as lesser than other people, but some people are still against dating us and there’s also that people fetishize us, but I don’t think that’s your intention at all, right?”
