While I was in the backyard walking Weird Unkie, Early Summer rushed to the second floor. She opened the rooms one by one, eventually she found the room she was looking for. But she got hit by an unknown power the moment she put her hand on the door handle, she could not open it.

When I came back to the house, Early Summer was in the kitchen washing something. It’s the first time that a girl ever cooked for me, I was full of expectation and decided to take a peek.

“Shu Yuan, what are you doing there?” Early Summer noticed me.

“I wasn’t peeking, ah, ha-ha-ha.” I tried to explain, with a silly smile on my face, “ I just walked the dog and have nothing to do, so maybe I can help you with lunch.”

“No, I’m good.”

“But...”

“Hey, give me some trust! Sure I’m not good at cooking but I’m not awful. Just get out and wait.”

Early Summer pushed me out of the kitchen.

“O...OK.”

I sat down on the couch and started to play a video game.

‘A girl is making lunch for me’, the thought made me happy.

What?! I was defeated? I looked to my left, Weird Unkie was biting another game controller.

So I was defeated by a dog? That could not be true, I was just distracted by my happy thoughts.

Weird Unkie looked at me complacently.

‘OK, game on! I have to give this nasty dog a lesson.’

But I lost, again and again...

“BANG!” A loud noise came from the kitchen, I jumped off the couch out of shock.

“Are you okay?”

“No big deal, I Just knocked off the lid...” Early Summer still sounded confident.

The dog gave me another contempt look as if I was making a fuss.

“Eh, what’s that smell?” A while later, an indescribable odor came to the living room.

“Oh, sorry, I forgot to turn on the range hood.”

‘Is she really OK?’ I became unsettled about this lunch, seeing the dog’s eyes which were full of conspiracies, I started to pray in my heart.

“Lunch’s ready!” Early Summer shouted at the kitchen door, her face was covered with sweat and red and white colors. What could those colors possibly be?

The dishes were served at the table, I could barely tell what were in the plates, I tried my best and figured out the black strips buried in thick sauce might be ribs.

“Are these ribs?”

“Yes, they don’t look good but they taste okay, come on, take a bite!”

Early Summer passed me a piece of rib and looked at me expectantly.

‘Okay, she spent such a long time in the kitchen, I should give it a try, maybe it just looks bad.’

‘God! Why the hell would there be such a cooking idiot on earth?’ That bumped into my head after I took the first bite.

It was mushy, extremely salty and spicy, I didn’t know how much soy sauce, salt and chilli sauce she used. And it tasted nothing like a rib.

“Water, pass me water!” My throat was burning...

“Sorry, here, here it is!”

I chugged a glass of water, Early Summer then gave me a roasted chicken wing, “It’s New Orleans style, try it.”

“Weird Unkie’s not fed? Come on, take a bite.” I passed the chicken wing to the dog, in hope that he could eat the food his beloved keeper cooked.

Seeing the chicken wing with his sharp eyes, Weird Unkie was shocked and then he ran at a remarkable speed toward his bowl and started to gorge his food.

“Dogs should eat dog food, fool!” That was the message I got from his stare.

I was petrified at the table while Early Summer was passionately putting all sorts of strange shaped, weird colored food into my bowl.

I cried in my heart, who knows this pretty Loli could cook a table of stuffs which were like a bad dirty pour painting. My hands were trembling and my stomach cramping...

Suddenly the door bell rang. What a life saver! I ran to the door like a wind.

“Hello, you must be the landlord? Sorry that I didn’t call you first, may I come in and take a look at the rooms?”

A lady with long hair was standing at the door, dragging a suit case, she seemed a little shy.
