Now that Mom was homeschooling Lee part of her routine was taking Lee to the library. One day she decided to try a different library in town. When Lee entered the library he was just so happy. He was like “Goldilocks and the Three Bears.” There were no beds but plenty of sofas and chairs to try out. He settled on a sofa that was just perfect and started making his happy noises. Then suddenly this old lady who had been sitting behind Lee’s sofa turned around and told him to shut up! This was not in a quiet kidding way, I am talking about a very loud, non-library voice way SHUT UP! Mom was shocked. Mom approached the woman and explained he was autistic….sorry.

Lee then decided to wander over to the video display and picked out a movie and returned to the sofa to study the box. Now he is thrilled with his new find and is giggling over his latest discovery. Sure enough, the woman turned around again and said, “people like him should be put in a cage.” Mom lost it and gave a long speech on how it was a free library for everyone and if anyone should be put in a cage, it should be her and Mom would gladly throw away the key.

By now, the whole library was watching them. I am sure it was more entertaining than whatever they were reading.
