Eventually Lee and I both grew older and we went through our awkward teen years together. Well… they were awkward for me anyway. While I suffered through the bad zits Lee barely got any.

Lee also hit a growth spurt and grew taller than Mom.

He also started to grow whiskers, which were not easy to shave. He kept laughing whenever Dad put shaving cream on his face, which made it hard for Dad to give him a close shave.

Mom had been home schooling Lee for over a year. It had gotten increasing harder for her to have her real job and teach Lee on the side. So it was time Lee went to a school for autistic kids to help him learn life skills.

Through lots of research Mom discovered a school on the eastern shore of Maryland called the Benedictine School. It was founded by the Sisters of St. Benedict. In the 1950’s the sisters recognized the need for a school to train and educate children and young adults with special needs. There were multiple kids with all kinds of disabilities not all were autistic but enough that Mom felt she had finally found the right place for Lee. This school truly saved Lee’s life.

Lee actually liked this school. This ends the early chapters of Lee’s life but I’m sure the adventures will continue....
