To ERR is to human.

Is that what you people say?

When you screw up and harm someone

You blame it on nature?

I cannot say I haven’t ever done it.

But when I realize what I mean

I think of myself horrible.

I hurt the ones who I love most

And call it the fault of humanity.

Of nature and everything pure.

Of course I am wrong!

I am the root of my own suffering.

And yet whenever people say that

“You deserve your punishment.”

I think them wrong.

And so I think that I am a root of evil.

And that I cause those who I love the most pain.

And If you say to Err is to human.

To err is just my way.
