“Only for tonight." Kang holds up a finger. "They should all be gone by morning."
I glance back and forth between the both of them. I have to stay here? With Kang?
"Why?"
"If you were seen leaving now, scandals might begin."
Realization dawns and I suck in a breath. People might get the wrong impression and there’s no way I could destroy their reputation like this. I'd be killed.
“I mean..." I slowly look around. "If that is what you think is best."
The man nods once. "Don't do anything." His eyes narrow at me. I hold my hands up.
"I have no reason to do anything stupid."
He barks out a few more words to Kang before leaving. I drop onto the edge of the bed and shyly peek at Kang. Was this my own personal fan fiction? I couldn't believe this.
"Are you hungry?" Kang asks as he waves a menu at me.
My stomach grumbles, I press my hand against it. Food sounds amazing. Kang walks over and sits next to me, his shoulder brushing against mine.
"I'll eat anything." I felt slightly guilty.
Kang points to caviar and raw meat before shooting me a questioning look. My stomach churns.
"Sure?" I drawl out.
He bursts out laughing, shaking his head. "Your face got pale."
"I don't really care for it." I admit.
"We're not getting it."
I purse my lips. "I swear..." I grumble to myself.
He picks up the hotel phone and begins to order. I grab a pillow from the bed and look towards the settee. I really wouldn’t fit there. I throw it to the ground, nodding in satisfaction.
"You can have my bed." He calls out after hanging up the phone.
“What about the others? Aren’t you sharing the room with one of them?” I ask.
Kang grins. “There was a misunderstanding so we got upgraded to a different floor and managed to get our own rooms. This is all to myself. So take the bed. I can sleep on the ground.”
"Nope." I sit down and slap the floor once. "I'm not kicking an idol out of his bed."
Kang drops to his haunches and raises an eyebrow. "You're hurt."
I shrug. "You're not changing my mind. Take the bed. I have all of this to myself." I lean backwards on my arms and give him a full blown grin.
He mutters something under his breath before standing up. I sit up, watching as he grab clothes from his suitcase and strolls to the bathroom.
"If the food comes while I'm in there, you can eat without me." He replies before going into the bathroom, shutting the door behind himself. A few seconds later I can hear the spray of the water hitting against the wall.
I try to block out the thoughts of him in the shower by crawling to the bay window. The city looks so colorful at night. The sun was finally setting, casting the sky in its beautiful hue of colors. Was he soaping his... nope!
I slap my cheek and curse myself up and down for imagining Kang naked. Just because I am attracted to the guy doesn't mean I have the right to think about his body. The doorbell rings, I race to answer it, thankful for the distraction. Opening the door slightly, I grab the tray that holds our food and thank the staff quietly before closing the door. What all did he order? I sit the tray onto the desk and lift the lid.
Hot dogs. I chuckled at the simplicity and grabbed one. The shower shuts off casting the room into silence. Grabbing a can of sprite, I crack it open and move back to the settee with my hot dog. Kang exits the bathroom, towel drying his hair. A tight black muscle tank and sweatpants makes his hair pop as he goes straight for the food. He grabs a hot dog and a drink before joining me. I watch him cross his legs and stare out the window.
"It's beautiful huh? Probably not as beautiful as your home."
"Every place we visit is beautiful." He comments quietly. "The food is always different too." He takes a bite out of his hot dog.
I nod. I bet every city had its own quirks. We both turn our attention back to the window as peace settles over us.
"When do you leave?"
"Tomorrow." He admits.
So soon? I feel my shoulders sag a bit at the news
"Do you want another hot dog?" He asks as he stands up. I nod before shoving the rest of the food into my mouth. He goes and grabs the hot dogs and the other plate that is hidden under the lid. I grab the lid and pull it off the plate, setting it on the ground beside me. Pasta. He places the food between us and hands me a fork.
“How much is the food?” I pull out my wallet.
Kang shakes his head. “It’s on me. You helped me get out of the cafe safely and you got injured because of me. Put it away.”
But...I frown. That didn’t seem right.
"The sun is gone." He changes the topic.
"It is." I sigh. He takes a bite of the pasta, smearing sauce over his mouth.
. "You got..."I tap my own mouth.
He rubs the wrong side. Rolling my eyes, I lean over, wiping it away. "Are you going to see the city tomorrow or do you have to leave early in the morning?"
When There’s no response I look up to see him staring at me intensely. "Kang?"
He shakes his head quickly. "Our flight is later. I didn't have anything planned." He replies slowly. Then again after today's fiasco, going anywhere tomorrow would be a huge task to do. I finish my food in silence and grab the plates putting them back on the tray.
"Get some rest." I lie down on the floor, getting comfortable enough that I wouldn't hurt the tender part of my head.
"Good night." Kang sighs as he moves to the bed.
"Night." I hear Kang tossing and turning in bed, his sighs keeping me awake. Go to sleep Morgan. I begin to count forward to thirty before going backwards in English. When it doesn’t seem to calm me, I try to do it in Korean. My fingers pluck at my shirt nervously. Just because you’re sleeping in the same room as Lee Kangsu doesn’t mean you need to be this wound up. I close my eyes and try to relax my body. Just sleep…
I groan rolling over the wrong way. Blinking my eyes open, I frown at the blanket that is around me. When did... I look up to see Kang lying half off the bed, his arm dangling near mine. He’s still asleep, his lips parted. Sitting up slowly, I take him in. His eyebrows, his cheeks and jaw are so unique on him. I lift a hand, brushing his hair out of his face. His eyebrows twitch and he makes a noise while shifting. I look out the window, the sun was beginning to rise. It was morning and high time for me to head out. I pull my hoodie on pausing as the smell of Kang filled my nose. How can a guy smell so good?
"You're awake." Kang's husky voice made my toes curl in bliss.
"Yeah."
He shifts onto his back and blinks up at me. I grin at his messy hair and the way his shirt rides up on his stomach, showing off his physique.
"It’s way too early." Running a hand through his hair, he sits up and gives me a look. "How are you feeling?"
"Betrayed." I grab the blanket and throw it over him. "I told you I was fine."
I can hear him laughing under the blanket. "I'm not sorry."
He drags the blanket down until his head peaks out. I walk over to the mini bar and grab a coke. Kang snatches the drink out of my hand and gives me an amused look. How did he move so fast without making a sound? I lunge for the drink and snatch it from him.
"Mine." I tease.
A challenge rises in his eyes and he reaches for it. I raise it over my head laughing as he stands on his tiptoes to reach for it.
"Morgan." He growls my name.
I taunt him with a little shake. "Are you too short?"
He grabs on my shoulders, yanking my upper body down as hard as he can. We wrestle for the drink. I can’t stop the laughter as he reaches around me to grab it. I let him have the coke. Victory lights up his eyes before his lips slowly peel back in an expression of pure mischief. Oh no.
I should have known better. He pops the can, pointing it straight at me. Foaming liquid sprays me with a burst and I suck in a breath as I try to redirect the spray towards him. Kang’s laugh brings out my own as he ducks away from the spray.
"How do you like that?" I chuckle as he gets hit in the face. I can feel the coke dripping down my cheeks and neck.
"No fair." He licks the coke off his lips. He tilts his head and shakes it hard enough for the soda to go flying everywhere.
I push his head away from me and go into the bathroom to grab a towel. "Do you think they'll be mad for ruining the carpet?"
Kang shrug as I toss the towel over his head. Yanking it off he begins to wipe his face. Figures he doesn’t care. He’s rich. I see the material fly towards me before it covers my head. Gentle hands rub the towel over my hair. He is careful not to touch the wound before he cleans the coke off my face.
"You're going to need a shower."
"These were my only clothes too." I pull the hoodie away from my body to study the stained article.
Kang glances at the clock. "I'll get yo-"
"No way." I snap before rolling my eyes. I can’t wear his clothes. "I'm fine." I didn't want to leave just yet. A part of me wanted to keep talking to him and learn everything about him. Should I ask him? "Do you have time to go somewhere?"
He glances at me with a confused look and nods. "I have a few hours to spare."
A thought pops up in my head. "Do you want to see something with me?" When he shakes his head, I grin. "Good. I have a place I want to show you."
"Show me?"
Grabbing his shoulder, I push him towards the bathroom. "Get dressed." If this is his last day here, I am going to make it a damn good one. We stop by my house so I can change.
“You live in a beach house?” He sounds amused when I come out with new clothes on.
“Yeah.”
Kang chuckles. “Jay would definitely enjoy this place.”
My eyebrows crinkle in confusion before realization hits me. Jay loves the sea life.
Giving him a grin, I cross my arms. “Are you ready?”
“Should I be worried?”
***
Kang growls as he tries to stop the attack. The little puck sinks into the hole and spits out from the slot on the bottom of the game.
"I win." I tease while leaning towards him. Three games in and I’ve kicked his ass every single time. Air hockey is not the idol's forte. Dressed in a bucket hat, he wrinkles his nose at me before stepping back.
"DaeDae is good at this game."
I walk around the game and throw my arm around his shoulder. "And you suck."
He elbows me and we both chuckle. "What's next?"
"The Ferris wheel." Kang points to the spinning ride. "It's one of my favorite rides."
The pierre was steady for a weekday but at least no one is bothering us. Either they recognize Kang but keeping their distance or his somewhat disguise was actually keeping him safe. Hands grab my shoulders as Kang hops onto my back. I catch him, holding his weight with ease as he leans forward, his face next to mine.
"Who says you can ride my back?" I push him further up to get more comfortable and grab his legs.
"Hurry!" He points towards the Ferris wheel. His breath tickles my cheek and I narrow my eyes in concentration.
"Here we go." I take off running through the crowd, heading straight for the ride. He wraps his arms around my neck, laughing as I spin him around.. My footsteps slow as I make a detour towards the food stall.Ah. Food.
"One please." I tell the employee. I maneuver Kang around on my back while pulling out my wallet and handing over a bill. He snatches the purple cotton candy, his eyes locking on the sugary goodness with pure bliss. "Thank you."
Kang grabs a huge piece and stuffs his mouth before grabbing another piece. He waves it in front of my face and I reach for it with a hand. Cotton candy was one of my favorites and I would always come here with my mom to get some. I feel him rub his chin on my shoulder.
"What's that?" He points to a colorful stall.
Shrugging my shoulders, I stroll to the stand. Colorful jewelry lined the stand and I bend down to stare at the handmade accessories.
"I like this." I point to the simple pastel colorful knotted bracelet.
Kang leans over, shifting his weight until he could pick up one of the bracelets. "That's pretty."
I hold two fingers up and the lady smiles at both of us.
“I got it.” Kang pulls his money out.
Grabbing his hand gently, I playfully glare at him. “This is my gift to you.”
“A gift?” He watches me carefully.
"When you leave you're going to need memories." I smoothly reply as I wrap the bracelet around his wrist. "Tada. Friendship bracelets."
Kang shakes his wrist, watching in awe before giving me a blinding grin. "Friends."
"Onward!" I point to the wheel that wasn't that far from us. "We still have to ride that."
He hops off my back and we head to the line for the ride. I watch him drop his head back, the sun glowing off his skin as he stares up at the sky.
"Happy?" I asked.
"The others would love it here." He turns his head, our eyes connecting. Something stirs between us. I step back quickly, clearing my throat as the attendant waves us forward. We climb into the tiny space and sit on opposite sides, our gazes move to the window. The ride starts moving, taking us up slowly. I grab my phone and began taking pictures.
"Look at the ocean!" I sigh in relief. This was home. Kang leans forward from his seat. I move off mine, hunching down beside him. We both point at the waves. He presses a hand against the window and I tilt the phone to take a picture of us with cheesy grins. Kang leans against my shoulder, looking at the picture.
"Another." He orders with a chuckle. Holding up a peace sign, both of us smile at the camera. Snap. Kang changes his peace sign into a finger heart and I do the same. Snap. Wrapping my arm around his neck, I pull him towards me as our heads press together. He sticks his tongue out sideways and give the camera a wink. My mouth was wide open in mid laugh as I take the picture. The last pic is us showing off our bracelets. Friends forever. As the Ferris wheel comes down, I turn to Kang.
"Do you think you can come back?"
He reaches out and ruffled my hair. "Definitely. I have something to look forward to."
"And I'll definitely come see any concert that I can."
He holds his pinkie out. "That's a promise."
I wrap mine around his and we press our thumbs together. "Promise."
But beneath that promise I feel something stronger is blossoming.
