Tristan opened his eyes to darkness, and for a moment wasn’t sure if he was still dreaming or awake. A heavy weight rested on his chest. He looked down to see what strange thing was holding him down, only to see that it was Hibiki. Even in his sleep he clung to him with surprising strength, one arm wrapped around his waist, and both legs straddling one of his. Not wanting to wake him up, Tristan carefully moved one arm around his shoulders and relaxed into the embrace.
Wondering what time it was, he turned his head to look for something that could give him his bearings, since the sky was still pitch black. Without any clocks in sight, digital or otherwise, he slowly reached for the phone still in his pocket. The bright light nearly blinded him, and he squinted his eyes just to read the time: 06:46. With a soft groan he put his phone face down onto the mattress. He closed his eyes, and laid back again.
Although it felt like only a moment had gone by when he woke up again, the darkness had shifted into a dim grey light. Hibiki’s weight was gone from his chest, and in his groggy state it was the first thing he looked for. He needn’t look very far, since Hibiki was laying right beside him, wearing his glasses and mindlessly scrolling through his phone – at least until he noticed that he was awake. With a smile he looked at Tristan, and voicelessly mouthed the words ‘good morning’.
“Morning.” Tristan responded softly.
Before he managed to do or say anything else Hibiki had put a hand on his neck and held him still for a proper good morning kiss. Although it surprised him he didn’t resist it. The kiss took his breath away, and while he was left speechless in the afterglow Hibiki took the opportunity to write a message.
'Your hair is amazing'
Before Tristan good and well realised what that meant, Hibiki ran a hand through his hair, messing it up even further. Immediately he frowned, but Hibiki responded with an innocent giggle.
“I’m a mess.” He mumbled, as he rested his head against Hibiki’s chest.
'Long weekend?'
He let out a groan and nodded.
“Yeah... sorry we couldn’t do anything yesterday.”
'I don’t mind. We could go out next weekend?'
“Aren’t you grounded for a decade?”
'Only until Friday'
“Hmm…” Tristan pulled away and looked up at Hibiki. “So you’re free Saturday?”
'I’m free any day of the week for you babe'
“I er… thanks…” He sputtered in response to the message, only for Hibiki to follow it up with a wink. Immediately he buried himself back into Hibiki’s chest. “You can’t do this to me first thing in the morning.”
'There’s lots of other things I can think of doing to you'
Tristan's eyes widened slightly just from the boldness of that statement, but before he could say anything a hand pushed against his shoulder and put him onto his back. Hibiki’s other hand grabbed his wrist, pinning him down. He looked up to see Hibiki try to hold back a smile by biting his lip, but it didn’t quite work.
For a second he was stunned, caught off guard by the act – and slightly perturbed by the warm and tingling sensation that flooded the very bottom of his stomach. But then he saw Hibiki’s held back smile turn into a smug grin, and he got his wits back if only out of sheer spite.
“What are you, thirteen? Going whichever way your knob points and grounded.” He shook his head in feigned disapproval.
When Hibiki let go of his wrist and sat up with a deep sigh, he smiled, believing that he’d won. Only to see Hibiki smirk, and point straight down to some rather damning evidence against him. Immediately Tristan felt his entire body turn warm from the shame, and his face flushed bright red. He rolled onto his side, and grabbed a pillow to hide in knowing full well he’d been defeated.
He felt Hibiki move off of him and lay beside him; an arm around his waist and a few kisses on his neck tried to ease the killing blow that had just been delivered to him. Although he relaxed slightly, he didn’t look back, instead preferring to face the pillow. As much as he pretended not to like it, he knew that he didn’t mind Hibiki’s teasing nearly as much as he believed he should – and even worse, that his sense of modesty wouldn’t last forever against it.
Hibiki didn’t appear to be very deterred by his method of hiding either, and simply put his phone between the pillow and him so he had to read it.
'So you want to go on a date Saturday?'
He nodded, and Hibiki removed his phone. The sound of taps told him that a response was inbound so he didn’t say anything.
'A real one?'
A little confused by the question, Tristan rolled onto his back and looked up at Hibiki.
“How do you mean?”
Hibiki shrugged a little, then wrote to clarify.
'We haven’t had a true date yet'
“Didn’t we go out for hamburgers before?”
Although Hibiki nodded, it was clear he didn’t mean it, not entirely committed to the motion.
'That wasn’t a date though, it felt more like going out for food'
“Isn’t that enough? I enjoyed it.”
Hibiki’s determination appeared to waver for just a second, reconsidering his argument.
'I just want to take you out somewhere better'
“You don’t have to. Anywhere is fine with me.” He responded with a smile, but Hibiki shook his head.
'I know. But you’re worth more to me than just anything'
Not knowing what to bring against that – if there even was anything at all, Tristan just fell silent and averted his gaze. A soft smile played around his lips, and he nodded once.
“Just…” He looked up, swallowing once and carefully thinking about what he was about to say. “Please nothing too expensive? I don’t want to be in debt to you.”
Immediately Hibiki shook his head, responding with a gentle kiss on his lips to ease his worries.
'You don’t owe me for dates'
Tristan smiled again, but this time the corners of his mouth wavered ever so slightly from anxiety. So Hibiki typed again, his taps fast and slightly riled up.
'It’d be very shitty if I did that. I’m rich, not an asshole'
“I know,” Tristan said apologetically. “It’s not you. But each time my mom or dad gave me anything, they always treat it like somehow I owe it back to them. I don't want to feel guilty about you either."
Hibiki nodded, then laid back down beside him. With one hand he brushed a few strands of Tristan's hair out of his face, but the curls were too stubborn.
"I know I shouldn't feel like that, you're not like them, I'm sorry." Tristan quickly added as his nerves got the better of him, but Hibiki just shook his head.
'I get it, my grandmother does the same. Not with money, but other things. I promise there's no bad motives behind the things I give you. It's because I really like you, that's all'
Tristan let out a heavy sigh and nodded, understanding well enough, but the feeling had been so ingrained in him that it was hard to shake off.
"I'm sorry. I do like it, I really do. I just have to get used to it."
Hibiki smiled, and gave his shoulder a light push to say he understood.
'It's just a date babe, you should get worried when it's a car'
Tristan looked up at him slightly confused, not exactly sure where he was going with that.
"Because I don't have a license?"
Hibiki chuckled, but then shook his head.
'You only give new cars to people you want to fuck, or bribe. It's like, rich people rules 101'
"Then what was that all about just now?" Tristan responded with a slight smile, which caused Hibiki to blush ever so slightly.
'I mean, I do want to, but not like that? You're definitely not a new car fuck'
"I'm absolutely thrilled that I'm not a prostitute, yes." Tristan responded with a solemn nod, causing Hibiki to roll his eyes and throw the blanket over his face. While he laughed and pulled the blanket back off, Hibiki took the opportunity to get out of bed.
With a single gesture Hibiki asked him to get up as well, and he obliged, figuring they'd been laying about for long enough. Once he got up and close, Hibiki fell forward against his chest while typing on his phone.
'I have to go let Maki out, so you can shower. And then breakfast?'
"Sounds good to me." Tristan said with a nod, and in response Hibiki ran a hand through his hair before standing up on his toes and giving him a quick kiss. "Do you want me to wait for you to get back?"
Hibiki shrugged, to say he didn't mind either way.
"Then I'll see you soon." He said with a smile.
A nod and a heart gesture from Hibiki confirmed that, before he moved out of his way so he could enter the bathroom.
