Everyone wears makeup to make themselves pretty, but I for one, don't. My name is Heart Marie, and I'm one of those simple girls that go to a pretty rich school. Only reason why I'm here is because I got a scholarship. I don't care about what people think of me. Why? Because I was raised to not care about how I looked.
This started when I was about to go to kindergarten. My mother told me, “You are beautiful the way you are.” she started. “If anyone tells you otherwise, just ignore it. They're just jealous of how gorgeous you are.” So if anyone talked bad about me, I would always replay those words in my head. I do miss my mom. She got into a car accident and she had some fatal injuries. I went to see her at the hospital and the doctors told me she didn't make it. Then my dad was the one that got her into the accident. Because he drinks and drives. So my dad is in jail for manslaughter.
I had just moved into a new adoptive family. They are so kind and sweet to me. I have two sisters, Genesis is the oldest and Naddie is the youngest. They both treat me if I was their actual sister, which made me feel at home.
We were looking for schools for me to go to. While we were looking, an ad popped up. It said “Free scholarships here at Ricky High School! Come get one now!”
“We should get a scholarship for Heart!” said Richelle, my adoptive mom.
“I agree,” replied Bryce, my adoptive dad. So they got the scholarship and now I must go to school on Monday.
